hi all,

This is the first time posting, but I find so many helpful suggestions from the posts, so I thought I would ask a question (a somewhat silly one at that).

I'm a new mom to twins (9 months old), and I already want to plan a trip to Disney world with my husband and parents. With the war going on and all the depression, one of the things that gets my spirits up is imagining myself and my family on vacation in Disney.

We don't want to go until our children are three which is a little over two years away. Am I crazy??? Will Disney honor the current pricing or will they adjust it higher?

I realize anything can happen in 2 years, but it's so nice to have something fun to look forward to. :) :)

Thanks for your help.

God bless all those in the millitary and don't have the option of chatting with all of us!

Hi,

I am kind of new at this myself, but I will try to pass on what information I have learned from this board. I've made a reservation already for Dec 26 to Jan 3, and have been told that some people made reservations for this time last year. Since most sites wont have that info in yet (except possible disney's site, you might have to call directly through Disney.

As far as the rates go, I will leave that question to someone who might be able to answer it better.

Welcome fellow Ma dweller. Yes, you can book as far in advance as you want. However, you will end up paying whatever the going rate is at the time of your ressie. So, say you want to stay in Port Orleans. Let's say the rates are $150 a night now. You can assume they will go up in two years. So figure that they could go to $170. But, and this is a big but, with the codes that come out, you should be fine. 2 years gives you a long time to obsess over your vacation. Believe me, I know. But, planning is 1/2 the fun I think. So, go ahead book your resort. Then you can take your time buying park passes over the years. And you can frequent these boards and soak up all the incredible knowledge here. Looking forward to seeing you more often now.

I'll probably book sometime in the next couple of months.

This will be the first time going to Disney with kids and I hope they love it as much as my husband and I. :) :)

splashmountain31 ~ start now while they are young and you can brainwas... er I mean (;) ) instill a love of Disney in them. That's what I did with my 2 DS! :smooth:

LOL, Mouseteacher! That strategy even works with other people's kids! Went to WDW with my brother's family - their two boys were 16 months (my godson) and 5 1/2 years at the time. We all had a great time.

The now 2 1/2 year old loves to grab their trip photo album and then point and say "let's go to Mickey's house". He can name all the characters. His mother is amazed! She apparently thinks he remembers the trip - well, maybe he does, but if she only knew how long we've been working on that!!!! She probably thought he was napping all those times I stayed with him. :teeth: :teeth:

Carol ~ LOL I did the same thing with my niece and nephew when they were at the toddler+ ages - I really worked on them when I babysat. We played Trivial Pursuit with Disney questions I made up; e.g. "Who is Mickey's girlfriend?" They made their first trip when they were 4 and 6 and... were well prepared (ahem) by their loving aunt! I was lucky to be there for their first trip to WDW and it was a thrill for me to see their reaction. We have made 2 more trips together since then.

Today, they are teens and are fully and completely Disney addicts. An off shoot of my training was their parents - DBro and DSiL became addicted too! My brainwas.. er training included them - the addiction is now in the entire family and extended family. ;)

The day after my wife gave birth to our second son I surprised her with a trip to WDW. My oldest son was 2 yrs and the baby was 4 months, WE had a ball. The baby obviously did not know what was going on, but as the saying goes "Do you plan to celebrate Christmas with Santa when the children are babies?" then why not take them to WDW when they are little. Yes they will not remember what they did but you will have the photos and memories for a lifetime. The only advise I can give you is to try to stay at a monorail resort, your trip will be alot easier.

Also, if you want to save a little money go just before they turn 3, that way you do not have to buy passes for them, and they also eat free at all buffets.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but if you book now, whatever rate you get at the time of booking will be the rate you pay unless you apply codes later. Using the example above, if the rate given today for that time is $150 per night and then it goes up to $170, you still pay the $150 that is listed on your original ressie. They cannot raise your rate once you have a ressie and a paper confirmation showing the rate. This was discussed on another thread.

That's not true if you book now for a date in 2004 or later. It is true if you book for any remaining dates in 2003 as the rates for 2003 have already been set.

If you book now for sometime in 2004 or later, you should be told (and there should be something on the confirmation as well) that the "appropriate" rate will be applied once the 2004 rates (or later year's rates) are set. FWIW, my understanding is that Disney usually quotes regular season rates when your reservation is made ahead of the rates, so to speak.

HTH.

I too want to mention to plan a trip b/4 they turn three b/c they get in free! Even if you want to wait until they are almost three it will save quite a bit of money if you can go when they get free admission. They also eat for free at buffets and characters meals if they are under three. DD has been three times so far and turns three in August. It's been great to have the price break for her and she can do so many things there!

Enjoy your planning!

I don't think you should worry about booking a room now. Just spend a lot of time on the DIS & plan it all out in your head! :)

Get a couple of great guidebooks (I like the Passporter) & a small notebook to write down everything you learn here. Well, better make that a BIG notebook! :teeth:

And absolutely take those kids before they turn 3!!

I didn't realize under 3 is FREE....Thanks so much for the tips. Though my kids turn 3 in July and the last time we went over July 4th it was SOOOOO HOT...I almost melted. I actually had heat exhaustion and I don't want that to happen again...YUCK!!!

My parents are also joining us on vacation and they want to go in October. SOOO....unfortunately, we won't be taking advantage of that. bummer.... thanks anyway.

And I will be spending the next 2 years counting down on the DIS. :)

thanks again!!!

Late April/Early May is a really nice time too! Maybe you can tell your parents how much money you will save.... :)
