How early for shows

I'd say atleast 30 min or more before the show get in line, before they did fastpass+ we always would show up an hour or so in advance and we always got pretty good seats

I just show up at the start time for the fast pass, or 5 min prior to the start time like a FP for a ride. Most show FP's are 30+ min before start time so no need to show up extra early. Only show you might want to show up any earlier then your FP time would be Fantasmic since you might have to wait in a FP line

Just to be aware (in case you did not realize it), the return time for a show is not an hour as is the case for most attractions. Plus, if you arrive towards the end of the window and you are a larger party...you may not be able to sit together.

Lion King at AK has a 20 minute window. The sooner you return, the more choice of seats you may have within that window.

Fantasmic (Dining Plan or FP+) - check what times they open those seats to the general public - those seats are NOT necessarily held until the close of the return time - better to show up a bit earlier + the pre-show is a lot fun!

Oh wow, 30 minutes early! Jeez my touring plan has me there 15 minutes early for most shows and I thought that would be OK. I guess I need to go back and rework my schedules. I'm really sweating this planning stuff, I actually can't wait for our trip to get here and be over with.

For Fantasmic, we are doing the VIP Dining package but I think we will be at that one 25-30 min early.

We have a FP+ scheduled for this show, and I see the 20-minute window. How does it work with a FP for a show? Is there a different line than for people without a FP? Or are certain seats set aside for guests with a FP?

A different line for FP. There's no special seating though. You get to enter slightly ahead of standby. Believe that's the same procedure with every show. Only reserved seating I know of is for dinner/dessert parties

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3326057 This is a link to the great FP+ priority, strategy and FAQ thread. He describes many aspects, including what a FP does when it's a show - some give you access before SB people are let in (lion king) some give you seating in a certain area within the show (Frozen sing-a-long, Fantasmic)

Loved our FP for Lion King. We were there about 20 minutes before the start time on the FP so got great seating down front where we could actually enjoy the performance. This was in November. Just booked it again for 2 was from now. So worth it. Also got FP for Nemo the musical.mhavent used one for that before.
