How early do you start packing?

We're going in July and I started a few months ago... :rotfl:
Really though, I find little things to bring on the trip, stash them in my mickey bag, buy some supplies (moleskin, etc) here and there to kinda spread the cost out a bit... About 2 weeks before, I will be starting my ziplock bags with complete outfits for each of us for each day. I L O V E packing!!!!

Glow sticks are light up sticks that glow in the dark. Bought at the parks, anything that glows costs a minimum of $5. I buy these at K-Mart or Walmart for $1-2 in the camping aisle. They don't glow until you break the seal. I always bring them from home. My kids love to have one when it is dark. I put them in my fanny pack each day so we have them when it gets dark in the evening. They come in green, yellow, red, and blue (and I may have seen orange).

I begin packing when we plan a trip or just get back from another one..I put any stuff i purchase for the trip in on a spare bed and if no one comes to visit overnight it stays there till the real packing begins. If it is out of season clothes, like the clothes we need for this week, will be summer clothes I pack earlier, if it is in season clothes I pack the stuff about a week ahead and tend to do laundry every night for underwear and socks (I know that is crazy but just me)..... :sunny:

DS & I return from a week long vacation at the Hampton Beach area 2wks before we leave for WDW so I'll start major packing then
I do have Disney items put aside already

I shopped for clothes two weekends before we left. The day before we left (Friday) is when I went to CVS to get all the stuff for my bathroom bag. And I packed around 3 in the afternoon the day we left. Come to think of it I was still putting my make-up bag and hair gel/sprays in the bathroom bag when the limo pulled up to our drive way! :) Nothing like cutting it close.

I am starting tomorrow!!!!!! I want to see if the bathing suits fit! :rotfl: I haven't seen them since last year!

I leave in less than 80 days. My suitcases are out, but only because I affixed them with homemade Disney luggage tags.

We leave really early on Thursday morning, so I will start packing on Tuesday. I pack in advance so that I can thoroughly go over my checklist and make sure we have packed properly.

I will be going on Monday to purchase shorts.

We are leaving May 6th too!! We are going as a Make A Wish Family for our son. We can't wait!!!
Our kids have never gone and I have been 3 times..I think I am going to cry all the time because I am sooooo happy for my kids. What a wonderful memories we will be making!!

We are going on the 8th to WDW MK....we will be the family with the little boy in the yellow wheelchair with the most addicting smile:)

We are leaving on April 22. I have started the disney box, with a few things (misty fans, batteries, laundry stuff, and a few travel size things) We started shopping for clothes a few weeks ago, and I pulled out my older daughters summer clothes, for her sister. We all have to go buy shoes/sandals this weekend, so we have time to break them in a bit.

I've told the girls to get their disney hats, and such out, and in one spot so we can pick which ones to take, but so far that has not happened. I've also told DH to PLEASE try on his shorts to make sure they still fit, but that hasn't happened either.

I prob. won't pack too much until the week we leave. I don't really have room to lay stuff out before then.

j-me: Have a great time! Our last trip we flew out with a Make a Wish family, it started our trip off so nicely to see their excitement! My packing notes: Have cut it too close involving me calling DH husband at work in a panic for him to leave now and stop and buy me some white socks. Horrible experience of me checking my make-up/toiletry bag in the car on the way to the airport. Other bad scenario: Packing too early. Forgetting what the heck I had packed exactly and then getting to WDW and being without a few key things. My best packing experience seems to be packing gradually, off a packing checklist, beginning around 2 weeks before my trip. Never the other two scenariors from h*** again!

We start one week prior. We get serious the day of the trip!

Uh, I leave in six and a half weeks and I'm packed already! LOL! I live in Michigan so there's NO WAY I'll wear any of my summer clothes before them! LOL!!! I'm so excited! My dh (and everyone else I know) think I'm a big dork! :)

Your timing sounds about right to me :)
I also start early, putting things in, taking things out and inventory. When I start packing early, I rarely forget anything.

SO I WILL BE ALL READY :rotfl: I AM CRAZY :rotfl2: BUT I LOVE, THINKING ABOUT DISNEY :goodvibes

TAKE CARE ;)

DH repacked his bags as soon as the stuff came out of the laundry after our January trip.

We aren't going back till October, 05.

I will start packing less than a week before we leave.

DH is ready to leave at the drop of a dime, but I can pack quite fast when it comes to leaving for Disney, so if the opportunity came up to go tomorrow, I would work all night to get it together. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Ilovestitch - just thought I'd say:wave2: - we are going at same time as you, but we are Poly - AKL! Have a great trip!

I'm leaving May 13th. I have extra ponchos, fanny pack, bug bracelets, sun screen, travel size bath products, travel size shampoo and conditioner, small deodorant, finger nail file and clippers, small laundry detergent, zip lock with dryer sheets, extra contacts and a small bottle of contact lens solution, mole skin, bandaids, safety pins, clothes pins, body glide, extra batteries, Pal Mickey, bathing suit, beach towel, small backpack, and sundry other items that I repacked as soon as we got back from our trip in January. This past Saturday I went shopping and bought some shorts, capris, and a few blouses. I brought them straight home, washed them, and hung them up in the back of my closet in matching outfits, along with some other clothes I'll be taking. I bought two pair of Teva flip flops and a pair of Teva sandals a couple of months ago, so know what shoes I'll be taking, but am currently wearing them every day to make sure they are broke in well. (glad it's been warm down here lately!)

The only things I should have to get together at the last minute will be insurance card, DL, credit card, makeup, and underwear. I'll probably put everything in the suitcase 2-3 days before I leave.

The folder with copies of my itineray, PS, AP, DDE, airline and hotel confirmations, etc is sitting on top of my computer desk and will go in my carry on. My AP and DDE card are in a lanyard in the suitcase and when I pack, I'll pull it out and add my DL, credit card, and insurance card and then put it on top of the suitcase, so I can't forget it the morning I leave. The camera with extra memory card and battery charger is already sitting on top of the suitcase in the hall closet.

My dog will be staying with a relative, so I'll have to pack all her stuff the night before (brushes, combs, grooming spray, hair bows and clips, shampoo, conditioner, toys, bed, food, treats, food/water dishes, leash, collar, vet number, etc. Usually her suitcase is as big (or bigger) than mine. :)

We get things out about a week to ten days before and pack about three days prior to departure. This past trip, our clothes dryer broke down right when I was starting to wash out travelling clothes. I had to go out and buy a new dryer the next day.

I haven't read the whole thread but here's my 2 cents worth. I start collecting the items that I will need as soon as we book. It may be 9 mths out, but if I see something on sale I get it. I am always prowling the dollar stores for disney goodies. I bought glow necklaces a couple of months ago for our October Trip. I will get the suitcases out a couple of weeks before we leave. As my spring catalogs come in I am already looking for Disney sandals for the boys. I usually buy new socks and undies for everyone so that stuff will go in a box under my bed until the suitcases come out.

I'm always flipping out packing for all four of us the day before we leave. I'll never learn......................
