How early do you have to book and codes?

We are two families looking at staying at a moderate in late April/early May 2007. My travel agent doesn't have package rates past April 21 -- we want to go around April 28. She said they won't have new rates until January.

How late can you hold off on booking? Are there codes or tricks I should be telling her to get lower rates? I'm not quite sure how these discount things/codes work

Not sure what your Travel Agent is talking about. I'm a TA and Disney has had the rates out since August. This particular agent may work exclusively with a tour operator and perhaps that tour operator did not get their allotment of rooms yet. I always prefer to book directly through Disney for my clients because if a special comes out it's easier for me to call Disney to change the package pricing. The only time I'll use a tour operator is if Disney has no availability and I may snag a room with an operator.
