We are flying Boston to Orlando in August 2005 and I have been watching air prices for the last couple of weeks (the dates just recently opened up). How early should you book for travel at the end of August (8/24 - 9/2)? Is that a peak travel time?

The cheapest rate I found was $155 RT, non stop on Delta (Song), so the total for the 5 of us would be $776. Two years ago we went in November and lucked out with really great prices - $550 for the 5 of us! I am wondering if I should hold out and see if the prices drop or if you think that the $776 is as good as I can expect to get for August. Thanks!

For our trip this past September, I booked my air in February. I decided what i want to pay and when i see that rate I book.

If I could get $155 rt non-stop, I would grab it. I think that is a good rate.

I am paying $300 per person for our trip in February (from Detroit) and we are stopping on the way down!!!!

Thanks for the replies!

Does anyone know if this is a good rate for the end of August/early September? I remember seeing some great rates through Jetblue and Southwest several months ago - I just don't remeber when the travel dates were. Is $155 per person as cheap as I can expect for that time of year?

We are going 8/2-8/16/2005 and I just bought our airfare from Spirit. Total for 5 people nonstop is $683.00.

I have watched airfare from Detroit (or Flint) to MCO, and $136 R/T nonstop is a good price. I budgeted $200, was hoping for $150, so when I seen this price I jumped on it.

I would do as Mish says. Set your budget and when you see that price jump on it.

flying from jersey, we have paid as much as $225 r/t (last october) to as little as $99 r/t (this july). I would jump on 155. I consider a good deal to be 150 or below, but 155 is close enough. Especially if the times are good, and you can get choice seats (bulkhead or emergency exit row)
