How early do we need to be there?

If the park opens at 8 AM, how early should we be arriving to beat the crowds? Also, we are about a half hour walk from the park, google maps says 7 minute drive, although I have heard a lot about the crazy traffic... how early should we be ordering our ride taking into account the morning traffic?

I personally would want to be at security by 7:00, so maybe 6:50?

It may depend on how busy it is expected to be that day, but I would try to be there lined up at the gates around 45 minutes early, an hour if you want to be first in one of the lines. It's hard to estimate traffic without knowing exactly what area you are staying in. I imagine it's down Harbor somewhere. I'd give it 20 minutes in transit, so call your car about 30 minutes out. Just remember that it never hurts to be earlier. Have fun!

Agree with the above suggestions. On your first day, it can't hurt to be earlier. Then you can time your following days based on your first day's experience.
