How early do people start lining up in the morning?

I remember going pre-rope drop in the 80s when it was still on Main St and it was never empty. There are more crowds now, having an empty park or an empty Main St is not a good sign for Disney. They are not in business for photo ops. If Main St was empty at 8am maybe they've shortened the hours at those times of the year so they're spending less to operate a park with people spending money.
