How early do I need to purchase park tickets online for FP+ 60 day reservations?

I'd rather not fork over the $1k for park tickets until I really need to, so how long can I wait to buy my tickets online and still get to make FP+ at 60 days? Can I do it at 61 days and it'll all work out, or do I need to allow some amount of time? I assume if I buy at disneyworld.disney.go.com that it'll appear instantly in my MDE account and I won't need to wait for anything.

Well ..... April trip last minute decision to add DS. I bought his ticket online and then was immediately able to book his FP+. Not sure if that is common procedure but that was my experience.

If you buy through Disney then 60 days in advance, if you buy elsewhere you need to factor in the shipping time. Adding tix to MDE is a piece of cake and FP+ is immediately available for 30 days out (just added my tix from UT yesterday for a fall trip).

If you are a member of AAA and have an office nearby it might be worth a trip to pick up your tickets. I bought ours at our local office and save around $80 on 4 10 day Hoppers with Water Parks option and they gave me the hard tickets. I was able to enter those tickets into MDE as soon as I got home with no issue and they were ready to use.
