We will have to stay off site at a hotel the first night since we decided to come a day earlier and there were no tent sites available to extend our reservation in that direction. My plan is to get up early go to FW and check in and I guess leave our stuff in the car while we go to a park. Then come back to FW later in the day and set up our campsite. I don't know if we'd be able to get to the park at rope drop if we do this. Can we check in at any time after midnight on our day? Thanks.

You can check it at anytime. The usual issue is if your site is ready or not. In your case there shouldn't be an issue. You can atually park in the overflow lot (besure your parking pass is in the window) and then go over to the park on the boat.

When you do check in early & your campsite is not available or ready (they do a visual inspection/clean before releasing the site), they will give you a special phone number to call & check to see when your site becomes available.

They won't tell you what your site# is going to be though, until after it has been checked & is ready.

We normally arrive at FW around 7:30 AM. Stop RV at Plaza and DW walks inside to check-in. Sometimes the site is ready and sometimes it is not.

Our earliest check-in was 4:00AM and we were allowed to go to our site.

If you really wanna see what kinda neighbors your gonna be next to, set up camp at 2:30 AM,,:lmao:

On the way down, call and see if they can accomodate you coming in the night before. I did that a couple of weeks ago, no problem. Granted, you have to pay for that night, but it was worth it to me to not have to stay in a crummy hotel. We got there at about 10:30pm.

We had people set up their tents (With at 6 kids and a taxi head lights blaring) at 1:30 am in the 2000 loop next to us. Blew my mind. It was out first trip to the Fort and did not know you could do this - other campgrounds have a "quiet" time.

If it's after 10:00 call (407) 824-2900 and ask for the front desk. We've actually come in at 0600 a couple times for our Thanksgiving weekend stay and once were directed to the site and once put in overflow. If you're directed to overflow and want to do rope drop depending on which park you're hitting go to the outpost bus stop which is very close to check in and take a bus to HS, AK or Epcot. If you're going to MK get on a settlement bus and take the boat from the marina.

We just stayed in 2000 loop last weekend and I will say it's a big difference from 1500 which we requested. There's double the sites and double the noise. No one in 2000 seems to care about noise any time of day. I was told 1500 was booked but we looped thru all weekend to see and there were 3 sites that never got used. Maybe they were throwaways lol.

ETA: You also could drive to the parks because your parking permit allows you to park free the duration of your stay.

Those are just "POOR" campers lol. Seriously, that is very rude. If you can slip in a site with a tt or moho without disturbing people then great, but to be out there talking and shining lights is bad. IMO if you're coming in that late go to a cheap motel and don't do that.

Yeah, I have to agree with that. We tent camped for a LOT of years before we moved up to a pop up/TT/5th wheel. The latest we ever set up camp was 10:30 and that was at a NASCAR race where everybody was up and partying anyway. Nice folks came over and helped us and we were done in less than 30 minutes with what we needed for the night. Finished up everything else the next morning. One other time that we got in late, we just all slept in the car and set up the next morning.

We stayed in the 2000 loop last year and we enjoyed it so much that we've already requested it again for THIS summer. :woohoo: We had a small issue with the folks to our left, but apparently others did, too, because someone complained and the Dis popo were there posthaste to take care of them. They weren't a problem after that. Lots more sites, yes, but the sites are larger and better "tree-d" than 1500. At least in MY opinion.

I called back again (15 minutes on hold again - and the darn computer voice that asks a gazillion questions does not seem to recognize my voice properly, or maybe that's just to keep me occupied while I wait) and they had a tent site open for the day we wanted to arrive early. So no hotel the first night, no need to check in in the early hours and no need to park all our stuff in the overflow lot while we go to a park. YAY!! I was surprised.
