How Early can I make online ADRs.

I haven't made ADRs for two years, and I know the ability to make online reservations has changed the ADR dynamic a bit. A couple of questions:

1) How early can I make online reservations? Can I start at midnight? Or do I need to wait until 7 est like on the phone?

2) Is the online method quicker and as successful as making the phone call?

TIA

I can't answer your first question about what time you can make your reservations, but I made a whole bunch online today and it was very easy. Just make sure you link your reservation to the new dining reservation, otherwise you won't be able to book past your first day. Good luck!

Online 6 AM Eastern Time
Phone 7 AM Eastern Time

I would make as many of the reservations as possible online since it gives you an hour headstart over the phone. Then, if there are any that you can't make online, call at 7:00.

1) As mentioned, the system rolls over to the next day at 6am EST and the phones open up at 7am, thus giving you a 1hr "headstart" by using the online system.

2) As far as ease of use, it's quite easy. I do suggest that you go into the system and make a couple practice ADRs beforehand though, just to make sure you don't have any questions on it. Just make sure that they're a bit out from now, and cancel them immediately :). As far as inventory, it's the same. Sometimes, due to different search styles, CMs on the phone may find something that you couldn't, but that's just due to how they search vs any actual difference (basically, if you searched the same, you'd find it online.)

Thanks!

It was pretty "idiot-proof"--me being the idiot! I actually didn't sign on until about 6:40, but I had no trouble and got pretty much everything I wanted.

I was surprised at some of the reservations that needed cc info to hold them (Cape May Cafe?), and was a little annoyed the system wouldn't recall cc info and billing address, as that eats up a lot of time in the process. But those were minor irritations. I found it pretty user friendly, and really a lot more pleasant than using the phone system.

Again, thanks for the info. I just hadn't made ressies for a couple of years and wanted to get the Kay of the land.

Glad it all worked out! I was online making my ADRs this morning too and agree about feeling slowed up by having to re-enter CC and billing info for each credit card hold ADR. I'd only made one-off reservations since the new policy so this was the first time doing a whole trip's worth.

I'm new to this and I hope this isn't a dumb question. When you say link to your reservation -- do you mean our resort reservation? And if we book through a travel agent instead of directly through Disney will I still be able to do that? Thanks.

Yes that's what it means. And you can book your own reservations for dining even if booked thru a TA. You just need your Disney resort reservation number.

I believe you need to get the WDW reservation number from your travel agent so you can link your reservation. This is the only way you can make all your reservations for your entire trip (up yo 10 days) at the 180 day mark. Otherwise you would need to call or go online everyday for the length of your stay and make your dining ADRs one day at a time.

Any restaurant that has at least one character meal will require cc guarantees for any reservation there. Cape May has a character breakfast, so even though dinner has no characters it has the cc requirement.

Thanks!! So from 180 days from the FIRST day of my trip, I can make ADR's for the entire trip?

Yes. I made mine yesterday for a trip that starts 4/12/13. I made them for the 8 days we'll be there.

If you have the Disney confirmation number, then maybe (it depends on how long your trip is ;)). If it's 10 days or less, then yup.

The 180+10 perk is:
  • If you have a confirmed on-site Disney resort reservation (can I add any more qualifiers there :p), you may make up to 10 days (inclusive) worth of dining reservations at 180 days before date of check-in.
  • If you do not have a confirmed on-site Disney resort reservation, you may make dining reservations up to 180 days before date of dining.

Booked all our reservations this morning, logged on at 5:55am. Got all my ressies at the times I wanted. Had to put the card down on Crystal Palace, Ohana's and the Fantasmic package at Mamma Melrose.
