I host an open house on Christmas Eve and have a lot of baking and cooking to do. How early can I make truffle balls and fudge to serve on Friday evening? What is the best freshest way to store them?
thanks

I would say no more than a week ahead for fudge or Oreo truffle balls, other cookies I do no more than two or three days ahead.

Recipe....please?

I've made oreo balls and frozen them. They tasted fine when thawed (even the few that I ate frozen tasted good).

I made these for a holiday party we attended Friday night and you wouldn't believe the rave reviews. Everyone LOVED these things.

Oreo Truffles

Crush 1 pkg oreos
Mix with 1 pkg cream cheese
Roll into balls. Chill for about 1 hour.
Dip in melted chocolate.

I used a food processor and it made the whole thing super easy. You can also use the mint Oreos for a festive look or use Wilton candy melts in red and green to dip them in. I dipped some in melted milk chocolate and some in melted white chocolate. Then did the ziploc drizzle in opposite colors for each.

It would be fine to make fudge now. Just put in in a tin and keep in a cool place....and try not to eat it, lol!:lovestruc

They are SO awesome!! But very putsy. I make them and then either put them in the freezer or fridge and they are fine for weeks. Another variation is to use the mint Oreo cookies, they are VERY nummy too!

OMG I just did this tonight. I found a microwave recipe, and DD11 and I tried it. I SKIPPED SUPPER , and just had dessert.

It was the best fudge I have ever eaten. There is a teeny bit left for DS ;)

I make these every year and always stress about them "going bad" before I serve them. Never thought to freeze them! Glad to hear they come out ok after thawing.......

OK..Disclaimer. It is not MY own, lol. I found it in a school recipe book from when my 14 year old was in K.

MICROWAVE FUDGE

2/3 cup Butter
2 cups Brown Sugar
3/4 Carnation Milk
2 cups Icing Sugar

COOK above ingredients 10 minutes in Microwave. Stir every 3 minutes in the same direction. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add the icing sugar (sifted). Pour into 8x8 pan and refrigerate.

LOL I am taking a break from making oreo truffles right now! My tip is to buy the microwaveable containers of Bakers Chocolate to dip in. And I like to add a few holiday sprinkles to the top of each.

I think this year since we have an attached garage I'll keep them boxed out there (the door stays closed - no cars in there for now, so no animals getting in), but just for a few days before they get distributed to teachers and friends around here.

It is icing sugar here. I believe when I go to the US it is confectioners sugar?
I am going to look in my recycling bin, brb

So i have mailed both Fudge-chocolate and Peanut butter-and oreo balls made with condensed milk instead of cream cheese to Iraq. if they can survive 12 days in the military mail system and be fine i can assure you you can make them now for christmas eve, store them in a cool place and they will be just fine.

White Christmas Jewel Fudge

Here is the recipe:

(3) 6 Oz packages premium white chocolate (18 ozs)
1 4 oz can Eagle Brand Sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped green candied cherries
1/2 cup chopped red candied cherries

1. Over low heat, melt chocolate with sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt. Remove from heat; stir in cherries. Spread into foil lined 8 or 9 inch pan

2. Chill 2 hours or until firm

3. Turn fudge onto cutting board; peel off foil and cut into squares. Store covered in refrigerator.

Everbody always seems to love this fudge!
