How early are dinner menus available?

Hi,

If we make a late afternoon reservation at a resort restaurant that serves both lunch and dinner, at what time are the dinner menus available?

1) Usually 5:00pm.
2) Kitchen staff usually rotate breaks from 3:30pm-5:00pm (typically 40-minutes per).
3) While one rests, the other half starts resetting the kitchen "lines" for dinner.
4) Then, when they switch, the other half finishes the reset.
5) Now, they are ready at 5:00pm to start preparing orders for dinner.

NOTE: These reasons are also why one can't order form the dinner menu early. And, why one can't order from the lunch menu after dinner starts. The kitchen is not setup to take special orders and break into food not set for that meal period.

Our last trip (February), I was able to order off the lunch menu at dinner at the restaurant in Mexico...so I don't think it hurts to ask if there is something that you would like that they serve at one and not the other. I don't remember the exact time we were eating dinner, but almost all of our dinner reservations are usually between 6 and 7 pm. The worst they could say would be that they can't accomodate your request; no harm, no foul.
