We did dress for dinner - tuxes on formal night and jacket & tie for semi formal night . All of the "boys" did change into long pants for dinner on every other night.
We had fun getting our formal Mickey clothes ready & it IS every mother's dream to not only see the whole family dressed up but to get pictures to show it.
How about Khakis/dress pants and a button down dress shirt/hawain shirt. This was the dress of the 4 men in our party last week and they fit in perfectly!
it was mostly Suits and Ties for formal night with about 40+% probably in a tux. A few, maybe 10%, shirts and ties and very few dressed less formal. We never saw the shorts and t-shirts in any of the dinning rooms at night. We even saw two kilts on formal night. At our table on formal night there was one tux, two suits and one sports coat and and slacks with tie.
I have decided to rent the tux package next time instead of trying to carry so many clothes. They really make for some great phots.
Wear Tuxes on Formal nights and the resort casual, Khakis and shirts on the other nights.
We were blessed with the under dressed idiot sitting next to us on Formal night, Cutoffs and an old tank top....arm pit hair hanging just right to impress the rest of the dining room. I don't care if people rent tuxes or a suit, but I think they should abide by the resort casual at the very least.
I couldn't pariticipate in the poll, because I made an effort to wear appropriate attire each night, depending on the theme and restaurant -- as listed in the Personal Navigator each day:
Parrot Cay
Formal (on formal night)
Tropical (on tropical night)
Semi-formal (on semi-formal night)
Casual, no short or jeans, please (all other nights)
Lumiere's
Casual, no short or jeans, please (on first night)
Formal (on formal night)
Tropical (on tropical night)
Semi-formal (on semi-formal night)
Jacket Recommended (all other nights)
Animator's Palate
Formal (on formal night)
Tropical (on tropical night)
Semi-formal (on semi-formal night)
Casual, no short or jeans, please (all other nights)
Palo
Formal (on formal night)
Semi-formal (on semi-formal night)
Jacket Recommended (all other nights)
The poll also doesn't differentiate between the 7-night Disney Magic and the 3 and 4-night Disney Wonder. The Wonder doesn't have formal, tropical, or semi-formal nights -- but it still has the dressier Palo and Triton's, and the less dressy Parrot Cay and Animator's Palate.
Originally posted by Denine DH wears his tux on formal, semi-formal and Palo's nights. He usually wears a shirt and tie the rest of the nights except tropical night.
That's fine. But nobody should think that Palo requires formal dress every night. Palo has the same suggested dress as Lumiere's, which is "jacket recommended" most nights.
Also "shirt and tie" would be fine on the casual nights, but not necessary. I only bothered with a tie on the formal and semi nights (with a dark suit) and at Palo (with a sport coat, although a tie is not required there).
As of now DH is wearing a tux to formal & semi-formal nights. Im hoping to get Palos for 1 of those.
The other nights (first, last, tropical) he'll be wearing dress shorts (kahki material/not jeans or cutoffs) to dinner.
Lumiere's rotation night we will go hide in the spa.

Why shorts? There's a range of dress for each of the different suggestions, but any shorts would be below the bottom end of the range for any of the nights (except possibly for tropical).

You could be in Lumiere's 3 times if you have the LAPLAPL rotation. But I looked at the August 2002 Navigators at Barb and Tony's http://www.disneycruiser.com/ . All three nights on the LAPLAPL rotation are shown as "Casual, no shorts or jeans please." I didn't notice any nights when Lumiere's said "jacket recommended," which was what had been suggested in Lumiere's on our Eastern cruise last March. In other words, it appears that Lumiere's now has the same dress suggestions at Animator's Palate and Parrot Cay. (On the Eastern, the second Lumiere's night would still be tropical.)
I wore a polo and slacks on normal nights, a jacket and tie on semi-formal night, and my EBAY tuxedo on formal night. I was the only one in a tux at my table, but it didn't bother me. It was kinda fun, and our formal picture is great!
Our theory is RESORT CASUAL (no shorts). Except for formal night and Paolo's which he wore a jacket and tie.
It seemed on both of our cruises dress clothes consumed most of our suit cases. So we wore the same clothes on formal night and Palo's. No one even noticed (except me of course).
