How does your car rental rate "go down"?

Do you have to keep checking the rates, rebooking a new ressie and canceling the old? Or does it go down automatically? Also, once you have a rate booked with a printed confirmation, they can't raise the rates on you, can they? Helpp, I'm confused!

I do exactly what you just outlined. Keep checking rates, rebook lower rate, cancel old confirmation. I've done it 5 times so far for this trip in May and I've gone from $195 to $123 for 9 days, Intermediate car, National. They've never charged me more than on my confirmation. If you're over an hour late, they'll charge you for that.
This price is wonderful, takes the guilt out of renting instead of using the new free transporation starting on the 5th. I need to stop for groceries anyway.

I've rebooked and cancelled at least 5 times. Down from 186 to 118 this morning with National for 8 days.

When it gets closer to my trip, I plan to call, and make sure that all the cancelled ones are off my profile. I have always cancelled the old, but National does not send a cancellation e-mail. A few have posted that there is a $50 no-show fee.

Do you have Emerald Club? It is a BIG discount, I used that along with the Entertainment $20 off... I got 12 days in a FULL SIZE 4dr for $245, When I originally booked in Oct. it was $328... it has steadily gone down... I spoke to a rep, they said it's based on availability at the time of your booking...

By the way, Last year's trip, I had a decent rate booked for 4 days.., I printed out my ressie, handed it the Emerald Booth after I picked out my own car from the section of the lot for emerald reserved guests, and I was charged EXACTLY that amount, even though I went over a few hours when I returned it, and I checked before I left NY and the rate was about $70 more than when I booked...

SO NATIONAL has made me a happy camper, I am now loyal to them.

Funny story: I had a mini van reserved and checked later and the rate had gone down quite a bit. Let's say the old rate was $300 and the new rate was $225. The reservationist actually ASKED me: "Which rate would you like?" DUH!!!

I never used teh PRICELESS code... I do know the Emerald Discount is $29 off my 12 day rental, and I used Entertainment's $20 coupon too(10009122), this brought it down to $245.. that's pretty low for 12 days in a full sized... Other rental companies were in the $400 range..

By the way, I noticed that National's FULL size is a bigger car... other company Full Size is the same as Nathional's intermediate cars.

I keep using the Priceless code: 6600330 and entertainment code: 10009123. I don't have the link to the Entertainment code but I know Dudspizza posted a link to it. You can do a search under his screen name, then look under the National thread.

I think you will find the Priceless code to be one of the best. Even if the discount percentage is the same with EC, you still don't pay some of the taxes that you pay with other codes. Best advice, run all the codes available and see what the best price is. You can combine codes and coupons with National.

Just for fun (and because I am totally bored), I ran a reservation using the Priceless code and the EC code for 12 days full size. Dates May 2-9. Full size, Emerald Reserve.
For the priceless code I received a rate of 158.91 total
For the EC code I received a rate of 191.57.
Not sure of anyone's dates, but, it appears that the Priceless code is working well, as usual.

I came up with 249.78 using the priceless code and the entertainment coupon.

Which is not bad considering he is renting over a major holiday.

I also tried the Turner Travel link listed on mousesavers for a free Emerald Membership, but always get an error when trying to submit. Everything appears to be filled out correctly and I have tried mousesavers link and going to the Turner Travel site and doing it there, get the same message everytime. Has anyone else tried that link with success. I would love the free membership, but can't justify paying $50 to join. Thanks for any help.

Yes, I have used the Turner link with much success, many times for many people.
The priceless code can be used by anyone. Try using the 20.00 coupon and the priceless code. Leave out the PRC as National will assign one that is appicable to your contract code and coupon. Sometimes using a PRC can cause the rate to go up.
If you continue to get an error message when using the Turner link call Emerald Club and tell them that you are having a problem and see what they can do for you.

We're renting a full size car from LAX the end of March and my rate went down from $152.95 to $125.71 a few days ago. I just tried it again and it went up to $143. I guess all the promotion codes are used up for that time period. I'm glad I booked it at the $125.71 rate. I tried them all and in every combination I could think of. I'll try again later but I'm still happy with that rate for a full size for 7 days.

I'm not sure if it's good at all airports but the reason it's good in Florida is because it eliminates the Concession Fee Recovery Charge. In California, they don't have that charge only State Tax so it's the same price using the Priceless Code as it is using Entertainment Code or any other code that you can use.

I believe that's the case. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

When we tried the Turner link at home, we had the same problems with the error. I got a few family members through, after many tries, but then I had to do the last one at work, and it worked fine then. Maybe try someone else's computer??

Anyone ever had problems at check-in with that Priceless code? Do they ever ask where you got it?

It is good all over the US, it is a travel agency code.
