How does water fountain water taste at WDW?

We always freeze water and take it. We take two huge bottles per person and let it melt thoughout the day.

That being said, we ran out on our last day just before Spectro last August. We were so thisty so we thought, fine, we'll fill using the fountain water. BLAH! So, we stood in line for 25 minutes to buy a bottle. That's how bad it is.

I have to admit that although I live in a city with well treated drinking water, I still buy reverse osmosis water for drinking at home so that really is all that I like.

I think it tastes fine as long as it's cold. Once it gets warm though, I don't really like it. I just asked my DH what he thought about the water and he thinks it's fine too. We too like to freeze our half full water bottles and then fill them with water before heading to the parks in the morning. They usually last until we go back to our hotel for our midday break. Sometimes we refill them at the water fountains though. Like someone said, it depends on the minerals, etc. you are used to in your water at home. We have our own well but find WDW water is better than many other places we have vacationed.

We won't have any way to freeze water in bottles to take, we'll have to use the hotel ice...which, wouldn't that be the same problem cuz the ice is obv made from the same water! Maybe having it "mingle" with bottled water will help!

A tip that I received on this board a few years ago was to take a drinking straw and fill it with crystal lite or some other drink mix. Fold up and tape both ends. I kept a few in my fanny pack. Most of the time the water wasn't offensive to me but I did use them for a change of taste once in a while.

Sweet Spirit of Mickey! burning hair? I've sampled nasty water all over the MK but it never tasted quite soooo... interesting. I'll have to ask the DW...

Most all water in Florida has that kind of taste and it isn't very good. People who live there are used to it as matter of fact a friend from Florida prefers it. I could be wrong but I think water from Florida may have a higher sulpher content than others. It makes for bad tea as well, especially unsweetened. That being siad I well stop at a water fountain while there on occassion, but I've got to be pretty thirsty to do so. I'm taking a few cases of bottled water with me..

I have never tasted water so vile as that at the WDW Resort. I dreaded brushing my teeth, even strong mint toothpaste didn't cover the strong sulfur taste. That's saying a lot considering my drinking water comes from Lake Erie!!

thats rough! we lived on the bottled water from the conceirge lounge. the tap water just burned my throat. DW hated it as well.

I've finally figured out why the water tastes soooo bad! The water fountains are connected to the WRONG water pipes!!! They musta been accidently connected to the SEWER pipes instead!

We've gone twice a year for the last four years or so. I believe the water has improved since they started getting rain again. Once a few years ago, when they were having the brush fires in the spring, the water seemed to be at its worst. Tasted awful everywhere.... I'll go with the sulpher description, too.

Since then, with some rains (raising the water table, diluting the minerals?) the water seems to have improved.

HOWEVER, last fall I went to refill a bottle at the fountain between Buzz and Space Mountain and the water was actually brown... looked like weak tea.

Sounds like the pipes were recently fixed and dirt got inside....

still gross....
