I haven't yet had the patience to crunch the numbers to see if I am better off using DDP credits for SoA, and/or HDDMR or paying OOP but, one thing occurred to me....

if these shows are prepaid at time of reservation, how do you use the DP table credits for it? Do you exchange credits for a card refund? :confused3

I apologize if this is a stupid question

Not stupid at all!

We have prepaid for CRT before and then used DxDP credits at the meal. We just told our server that we wanted to use dining credits and gave her our card. She came back with the receipt which showed meal credits were used. Shortly after our vacation, I saw that our credit card was refunded for the pre-pay cost.

Now, I will say that went awfully smoothly, but I was prepared if it didn't. I saved our confirmations and saved the receipt that showed the deduction in meal credits and I was prepared to use it if we weren't refunded the pre-pay money.

Good luck!

I don't have personal experience with this, but from what I have read, if you are logged into your reservation on the Disney web site, when you book a pre-paid dinner, your card should not be charged. In other words, if you are logged in, it should recognize you have DDP and it will only be charged if you do not show up. There have been some reports of people being charged the pre-paid amount in error after making the ADR when they have the DDP, but they have been able to call and get it refunded since they were on DDP. I don't believe their normal practice is to charge you and then refund you after your credits are deducted, as PP said. I believe their pre-pay charge was done in error, and fortunately, it was caught and refunded.

This is what I did when I booked SOA - they took my card in case we didn't show up, but it was not charged at all. I was logged into the webpage and had indicated I wanted to book it using dining credits.
