How does tranferring points work

When points are tranferred from one member to another, how does it work when there are multiple contracts at multiple resorts. Do you specify the membership number and the contract to transfer them to?

So if I was having points tranferred to me and I have both VWL and OKW how would the transferrer specify that the points go into the VWL part of my membership?

While the theory is that transferred points retain their home resort, the practice is that once the points are in your account, they take on the account's home resort. If you want a specific kind of points for the 11 month window, rent those kind of points, and remind the CM when you call. If you have more than one contract, you just give the owner the member number where you want the points to go.

You should specify the use year (if not the same as your own) and the home resort (also if not the same). If you have the same home resort, I don't think you'll get a choice as to where they go.

So when they're transferred, do they just plop into the receiving membership account or do they attach to a contract if there is more than one resort in the receiving account?

They attach to a contract. My understanding is they normally go into the master contract (original) if there is more than one. So you'd have to say "put them in my Dec 2005 OKW use year" or something in that vein. I do seem to recall a couple of people who were forced to put them in their main contract but the details are very fussy, maybe someone else recalls those issues.

I have recieved two different answers so I will ask here
Have a friend of mine who owes me 55 pts. His use yr is april . He will have to borrow those 55 pts from his 07 use yr to give me. I am planning on going in oct. can he transfer those points now or can he only book the room that equals 55 pts since they are borrowed pts ? two people have told me different things now?????

You cannot transfer borrowed points and you cannot borrow points that are transferred. Your friend would have to borrow the points then book in your name under his account. You can link to any reservation in your name to finish out a trip if needed.
