We are just off the Fantasy. We are “Silver”. We got a “4” for boarding. The cast member who signed us in and gave us our Key-to-the-World cards commented on our good number. How did we score such a low number?

Did you arrive early?

I didn’t look at the time. Our checkin time was 10:45 and our arrival to the port was about 10:10 but we sat in traffic to unload the car a while. Then went and parked and then stood in security so we probably got to the counter about 10:45.

That’s pretty early. So the fact that you arrived early is most likely the reason why you boarded so early.

What’s the earliest you can normally be on the ship for as a silver member

Your level isn't what determines it. We're gpld and I actually like getting on later, so I always choose a later PAT. It has to do with the PAT you pick at check in. If you pick a early PAT then you can get on early.

so if you get a early one when’s the earliest you would probably be on the ship for

With the exception of Platinum, who are given Boarding Group 1 (sometimes 2) regardless of PAT.

If your PAT was 10:45, that is why your boarding group was that low. Boarding Group is tied to PAT. Perhaps she is new and didn't realize that sometimes the earlier PATs actually are available for Silvers and even first time cruisers. Or she was trying to make you feel good about it. LOL.

PC on dream/fantasy
Usually they start boarding around 11:30.... however it depends on the ship getting cleared for those departing, and other situations that may occur. We have been delayed until almost 12:30 waiting for boarding to begin, and after our cruise in May they had been on sanitary precautions I heard someone saying that they boarding for the next cruise would be delayed because they were going to do a deep clean of the ship before allowing new passengers on.

We had a 6 on one of our cruises and we were ok with it because we still wanted to do more pics and were not in a rush and another CM gave us a 3 and was rather insistent we take the better number. Seemed to be luck of the draw as everyone is bunching up near the mouse ears.

it also depends what happened that day....
for example, we were on a ship that had a surprise health inspection, which delayed everything, including boarding..
there is the general rule and then there are exceptions..
i don't recall ever boarding at exactly the same time at PC...
though in truth, i don't really pay that much attention to the exact time we get on board..

.

A lot of people assume that you'll never get an early PAT if you are a new-ish cruiser. The assumption seems to be that everyone wants to be there as early as possible so Gold CC members snap them all up which isn't necessarily true. We try to avoid that; we've only arrived once at PC early because friends picked us up at the MCO Hyatt and needed to leave home early enough to ensure that there were no traffic delays. Hated it. We are Platinum now and will not be arriving early for our cruise in Jan. We are staying at the MCO Hyatt again and probably won't take the bus until 11:30 or so at the earliest. I prefer to arrive pretty much in time to walk right into my stateroom.

We had no kids and skipped the photos. We went down to fix a Palo ressie but when we logged onto the app aboard it was already fixed. We’d waisted 20 mins maybe before we realized it. But we did take care of Rainforest passes. When we got to Cabanas it was very empty and we had no issues checking everything out and getting an awesome table outside in the shade. It was getting more crowded as we left the area and headed to look around. I will always want to get those extra 90+ mins. Again without kids! It’d be different with excited little ones.
