How does this work?

We have a trip scheduled for 11/27-12/7 this year, but we (I) would love to change it to include DIS-CON II. We are booked at WL right now. Did anybody stay outside of the convention resort(s)? Also, if there is a discount on rooms at the resort, how do you do the days before? We would change to 11/29-12/9. Would it have to be a separate reservation, etc?

Hi Jan. Welcome to The Convention Board.

To answer your question, I'm not sure.

And yes, some people stayed at non-convention resorts. Keep your plans as is. When Pete releases more info. then you can start making changes--if need be.

I've heard rumors that the convention events might be offered a little differently next year, so I don't want to comment yet.

I will just add though that it was a ton easier to be at one of the resorts near-by during the convention. If you plan on having your own car though, you'll be okay.

Okay, so much for this mumble-jumble.....I'll let someone with REAL answers chime in now.

Jan.. I would leave my reservations as is until Pete posts the info on DisCon2002.. then you can make informed decisions on how you want to do things..

Hi! Jan! I'm with everyone else. Wait until Pete makes the announcement. If it's like last year, you will be offered either a complete convention package (room and events) or events only package-for those that want to make their own resort reservations. I chose to go with the package deal. We had a good rate for our room during the actual convention. Then I used Dreams Unlimited to obtain another great rate for the same room for the days before and after actual convention dates.
As Tia said, it really was easier to stay within the EPCOT resort area. For those nights we had activities at Jellyrolls (yeah!) and Kimono's (karaoke night), those of us that were staying at the EPCOT resorts were able to walk to our rooms at the end of the evening. The weather was beautiful and those late night walks were very enjoyable. Right, Marsha?
