How does this EA gas fill up work?

I saw that EA folks don't have to fill up their car before returning it, and that the EA people will do it for you at local pump prices. Can anyone tell me how this works? Do you have to pay in advance?

Just return the car. They will calculate how many gallons of gas it needed. I just did this the other day and I think they charged me $1.44 a gallon.

Be careful though. Not all National locations participate in this program although Orlando is a participating location.

Is the gas option included in the base rate, or is it an extra cost option?

It is extra. They add it on to your bill when you return the car without a full tank. The local price option is only for Emerald Club members. If you have a non-Emerald Club reservation, you will be charged more than the local price (usually at least double).

Sorry, I didn't make my question clear. I know I will obviously have to pay for the gas, my question is, is there a seperate charge for the local price option?

Are you asking if there is a separate service charge in addition to the gas? No, there isn't, they just estimate the gas needed to fill the tank x the local current rate they are charging and add it to your bill. Your credit card is not charged until you return the car, so the total of the rental plus the gas will be charged at the same time.
