how does the waitlist work?

is it better to call and check on a waitlisted status? Or just wait and see what happens? we booked in January, and have all but one night set up- we're waiting to see what happens,or we'll have to move for a night(bleh)
OKW,marathon weekend,are we out of luck? these are studios(2)

IMHO the wait list process is a fake. Too many times are wait lists filled while members just happen to be on the phone with MS.

Some Advisers will tell you that they are filled in real time, others will tell you that they are filled at night. Doesn't seem that even they know for sure what goes on.

I say call often and keep your fingers crossed.

No need to call, IMO. We just had a 6 night WL come through for BLT (standard view) for the week aftter Thanksgiving.

OKW is quite large and you only need 1 night. Even though it'ss marathon weekend, I think you have a good chance. There's still time. Good luck!

I say call. I was on the waitlist for BWV and called MS to add the dining plan and while on the phone I inquired about my waitlist and was told that a one bedroom had just become available.

My waitlists have always come through automatically - never during a phone call to MS. I usually called once per week. Whenever I've called to check the waitlist, the CM never found a match during the call.

The two times my waitlist "came through," I was notified when I was on the telephone with MS. The first time I was on the phone for a non-related matter, and the second time, I called just to ask if my waitlist had come through. I'm very skeptical about the whole process myself, and I would say that it probably couldn't hurt to call once a week just to check. Good luck!

I called a few times to check on my waitlist for this Nov/Dec. We were waiting for the last night at a GV at OKW! Every time I called I was told they cant check for availability, but that I would be contacted if one came through. I guess I just got the wrong CMs. One day I checked on line and there it was!

I am now currently experiencing the waitlist process for the first time, I have BLT book for three nights in Feb 2010, but the last night 2/14 is not available, right now we have a studio booked at SSR, with a waitlist at BLT. Is it possible for me to call back and say that I would take a studio at BLT, if it comes up for that last night, we are currently in a 1 bedroom for the first three nights. Or is my chance better just leaving it alone and hoping for the one bedroom? I really don't want to move the last night.

I was reading this thread this morning and was wondering if I should call about my one night WL at BCV for March. And just this afternoon I logged on I got it. Granted I've only be on the WL for 2 weeks and it was driving me nuts. I can't imagine how you guys stay on the WL for a long time. I'm just not that patient.

I am so excited, I booked three nights at BLT in Feb, just the other day, and waitlisted the forth night, just for fun, I just logged into DVC.com, checked our account and the waitlist night is there!!! Our forth night came through. I cannot believe my luck. Now to tell my husband about our trip, have not mentioned that yet!

I was on the waitlist for VWL for one nite on Marathon pre weekend and I called about and upcoming Oct trip and the person at MS said oh your WL came through for VWL. Go figure. I also called two weeks ago and got a studio for two nights at OKW with no WL, it was just available. I can't figure it out either, but I would call every week to check on it. Good luck.

Just got waitlisted for the first time.......please send some pixie dust. We will be going over spring break, checking into OKW on 3/30-4/3, then moving over to Vero Beach on 4/3-4/6. BUT.....Mon. night, 4/5 is waitlisted for Garden view Inn room. Being it is the day after Easter, not sure how good my chances are........Anyone??

While on the waitlist for the night before Thanksgiving, in a studio at Wilderness Lodge, I called once, back in August, with no luck. Today, I got my reservation modification in the mail - dated 9/3/09 while I was on vacation in the midwest and not thinking about DVC at all!

encouraged to hear these good news stories. Have a reservation at BWV in Jan and waitlisted for BLT. We're surprising DD for her 8th bday. Fingers crossed we get moved. Still shocked my DH said yes to the trip.
