I know some people have mentioned getting a % off when they buy a Disney gift card at Target. How does this work? Do you have to pay with a target credit card? THanks

Target has both a credit card or a debit card that is tied to your checking account. You get 5% off your purchases including the Disney gift cards when you use either of those cards.

Target gift cards do not get the discount so some cashiers may try to tell you you won't get the discount on the Disney ones either. Just say "OK" and let them ring it up and watch the 5% come off automatically.

This sounds great but I don't think I'll pass a credit check. Unfortunately we are never eligable. :confused3 You can't actually pay for your vacation with a Disney gift card can you? I'm assuming just dining and souveniers? Thanks so much!

You can in fact pay for you whole package using gift cards. that is what we are doing this year. I do not think you have to pass a credit check to get the debit card because hte funds are coming directly from your checking account. i think that they give you a low limit at first, and then you can build on that after time, but it is not a line of credit it is your money.

After reading more on the target web site, it looks like they may do a credit check for the debit card, but I don;t thik it would be as hard to get as a credit card would.

I am actually paying for my whole darn vacation with the gift cards. I went to Target and got 50 of them, then used my RED card and my Pharmacy Rewards discount for 10% off. When I get the bill for the card (I have a credit card), I'll just pay it off. I saved just under $250, which will be paying for our gasoline. The only pain is giving the #s to my travel agent, but I'm going to do a few at a time, so as not to overwhelm her.

:goodvibes you are nicer than I am. I took a whole load of them ( about 35) and dumped them on my agents desk. I still have a more to give her, but the look on her face when I gave her those was great. Thankfully she thought it was funny.

I get the cards for every trip, but especially used a lot during our last trip. I did a room only reservation at the Poly club level for two nights and it was painfully slow to use 9 $50 gift cards at the check-in desk (thankfully we had rented points for a week at OKW so no cards needed there!). The guy was very nice, but I could tell he was a little frustrated as there were a lot of people checking in and each card was taking forever to go through.

I also used 13 $50 cards at the Ticket and Transportation center to buy an annual pass (that went much faster!) and another 20 $50 cards for dining/souvenirs for the week (and to buy the TIW card). You have to be organized to be able to keep track of that many cards. I only took a few a day out with us and kept the rest in the room safe. I would also wrap the receipt with the current balance around the card (or take a Sharpie with me and write the balance). Plus, if you have to return anything they'll only return it to the card so keep track of your cards. I ordered a Kaki Gori at the Japan kiosk once and a few minutes later realized they charged me for two and went back (she never told me my total and I had already handed over the gift card). I had almost thrown the card away since it was now empty. I'm glad I didn't!

I just signed up for the debit version of the red card and there was no credit check.

That is great to know. I just paid my target card off and am trying to go credit card free so I think that this would be a good alternative to credit cards. :thumbsup2

Can u use the giftcards anywhere in the parks?

Almost. The only places that will not take them are location that are not owned by Disney ( like some places in DTD). You can use them at the resorts and in all the parks. There are a few vendors that will only take cash, but they are few and far between. You are mostly going to see that with the balloon sellers and some snack carts.

Just wondering what the PHarmacy Rewards discount for 10% is? We currently have (and use) our Target red card quite a bit, but I don't fill prescriptions there. Can you explain what this is? Is it just for new prescriptions?

We leave in two weeks and it would be great to get a 10% and 5% discount on giftcards for our meals! Thanks! :thumbsup2

I have the Target debit card which is 5% off. I fill my monthly prescription at the Target pharmacy and use my Target debit card to pay for it. After 5 prescriptions I get an additional 5% off card in the mail. There is an expiration date on it, I think it'll expire maybe a month after you get the card. It's good for one day of shopping only. A friend gave me $200 to get her Disney gift cards, then I bought $200 myself. You can ring it up on 2 separate transactions since the card is good for one day only, not just one transaction. It came to $180.50 for $200 worth of Disney cards. Going to go back when I get my next pharmacy rewards card!

Do you automatically get the 10% off pharmacy thing after every 5 prescriptions, even if you may fill more than 5 each month?

My dd has asthma so we are regulars at our local pharmacy. I don't use Target because they don't have a drive-up and it seems like the pharmacy is closed a lot. But boy that 10% off thing would be niiiiiiicccceee!!

If you are considering the photopass+ that you can prepurchase before your trip, you can use gift cards for that also.

If you are driving, you can use the gift cards to pay for parking at the parks, too.

The Pharmacy Rewards is 5%, not 10%.

You get a 5% coupon for every 5 prescriptions that you have filled at their pharmacy. The coupon can be use in conjunction with your Red Card discount.

It's not just for new or transferred prescriptions but if your script is even partially paid for by a federal program (Medicare or Medicaid), it is ineligible for the rewards program.

The program is not valid in NJ or NY.

You will receive a separate rewards card for the pharmacy program but if you tie your Red Card to your Pharmacy Rewards, you won't need to present the Pharmacy card if you pay with your Red Card.

I actually get my dog's medication at Target and it counts towards the 5 prescriptions needed for a reward.

It is a 5% coupon mailed to you after every 5. All 3 of my kids and myself have RX that come to about 15 in all so I get 3 a month and if one of us gets sick the nit just adds more. They have a short expiration date so you can't hang on to them too long, but when you add it with your target card it takes 10% off.
We love our target pharmacy, but we use them so much they are like family. I am not sure if it is nation wide, but our location offers free flavoring for kids meds, which is always a nice bonus. Our local CVS charges 3 dollars for it.
