When I was a kid, Santa did not wrap, the unwrapped gifts were always mixed up with the wrapped ones under the tree and if it was something special it was set up. There was still plenty to unwrap so we still had that fun, and Santa did have a few wrapped ones too. This is how we set up for Christmas with my children too.

Santa always wraps our gifts of course, ones that need to be put together and are too big to wrap normally, are put together and then either hidden with a box wrapped and a note in it saying where the gift is, or covered with blankets and ribbons and put by the tree, The unwrapping is definately half the fun.

I picked wrapped, as everything is wrapped, but things like bikes, or kitchen sets, or things that will take more than a minute or two to put together are already put together.

My kids like trying to figure out what is in each package, so I think that would take away from some of the excitement if things were unwrapped.

Santa presents are unwrapped, put together and left under the tree.

Presents from us (mom , dad and sibling) are wrapped and under the tree.

Stockings are unwrapped and filled hanging from the mantle.

When dh and I got married he wrapped my stocking presents and I thought he was nuts. LOL

Needless to say he adapted my family traditions. :)

Always wrapped. Never heard of the unwrapped either. Unwrapping is half the fun....I think. [/B][/QUOTE]

I agree!! I would hate to have walked out and saw everything at once....the best part is unwrapping them! I did put together my daughters doll house and that will be left out but everything else is wrapped! I video her opening them all, if they were unwrapped and she could see them all at once the video would be about 30 seconds long LOL!

We definitely wrap our gifts but Santa items are not wrapped so there is still plenty to unwrap as Santa only leaves a fraction of what they get.

When I was a kid, Santa never wrapped gifts. I loved coming down on Christmas morning and seeing ALL MY TOYS!!! It was very exciting!

In DH's house though, the gifts were always wrapped so that's what Santa does for our DD and DS. I love seeing them tear into them too. So I'm in favor of both :D

When I was a kid, presents from Santa were wrapped - well, except, of course, the bikes or other larger gifts - they had a ribbon & bow. The thing is, the wrapping paper looked familiar. Now Santa gifts come unwrapped and set up under the stockings. The kids love coming out and seeing their toys - it's nice that they can dig right in and play with them - no waiting for mom and dad to dig out batteries, read instructions, put stuff together - it's all ready for them to play with. No familiar store boxes either - these toys are straight from the workshop. They have more than enough to unwrap under the tree from family.

Let's face it, the kids really wouldn't mind either way - presents are presents - ultimately they just want to know if Santa brought them what they asked for. Glad the thread was started - it's very interesting reading about the various methods.

edited: I just asked my dd10 about this. Here is her comparison of wrapping vs. unwrapping - she says, "It's better to not have them wrapped, because when I wake up, I don't have to wait for you and dad to get up before I can see what I got from 'Santa'." :hyper: So cute the way kids think. :p

Santa wraps all gifts except big ones that need to be assembled. Santa always wrapped my gifts growing up but he didn't wrap them at my husband's house. I love seeing tons of wrapped presents under the tree. It's fun to open them and guess what's in them. :D
