How does points tranfer work

We have a few points that we banked over from last year that need to be used by the end of our use year. We have rented the points before but much larger amounts and I thought as this was smaller a transfer transaction might be better.

You can transfer points one time per year to another DVC members account.

I think you would call MS and of course also find someone willing to work with you. If you are transfering and money is involved, I believe I have read you SHOULD NOT mention this to MS. I am sure others here on the board could guide you better, but I thought I would share what I've read. Good Luck.

If the points have already been banked, they cannot be transferred. Only current points may be transferred to another member (but they can be banked once they have been transferred).

Your options are to use the points for a reservation or to bank them in the World Passport Collection to extend their use beyond August.

That is not too small for some people's needs, especially since it is too small for people looking for points to use David's service. I have rented as few as 24 with as little as 2 months notice. I found someone within 2 days. Try it.

I know you might think this is too small to rent but sometimes a family might only need a few points (for example, if I did not already have my reservations and plane fare, I may have considered a small amount to extend my vacation by let's say 2 days for a studio-we have a small family). Have you tried?

MS will assist with banking the points into WP (even though they have already been banked, they can still be banked in WP). You will probably need to add points to place them into the WP Collection - 41 points won't likely be enough by themselves as the mimimum points needed for a reservation as an RCI exchange is 106 for a Studio and 134 is more likely. Banking them in the WP gains two more years to use them for the exchange.

Here is the World Passport Collection point chart:

Studio. 106 Low/123 Mid/134 High
1 BR.... 124 Low/144 Mid/160 High
2 BR.....207 Low/252 Mid/270 High
3 BR.....276 Low/317 Mid/349 High

In most cases, I'd assume that the resort will be High season for planning purposes. If they end up being less you can always be pleasantly surprised! The seasons are decided by the individual resorts.


I'd call MS and let them advise how they can help you get the most out of these banked points.
