How does ordering work?

Hi Everyone,

DH and I are planning a dream (and surpise) trip for our daughters (age 3 and 6) and my parents (age 70) this fall. We have signed up for the DDP allowing us 1 CS, TS and snack per day.

So how does the actual ordering work? Are you only allowed to pick from certain items on the menu? What if someone also wants to order an appetizer?

Do we pay tax and gratuity for each meal? OR just gratuity? Speaking of tax... how much is tax at WDW?

Welcome!

You can order whatever entree and dessert you like. If you want an appetizer, you need to pay out of pocket for it.

Tax is included, but gratuity is not, so you'll need to pay that as well.

Sorry, I do not know the tax rate at WDW.

Hi. Tax is included in the dining plan, you'll pay OOP for TS tips. If you order an appetizer or alcoholic drinks, you will have to pay OOP and the tax.

You can order anything off the menu for CS or TS (entree and dessert) but for snacks there are some restrictions. Not to worry, you will catch on fast. We found the DP very easy to use, even the first time.

Tax is 6.5% (which you won't pay on DDP items but will on anything else you purchase).
