I have about 20 lbs worth of xmas gifts that I need to get to AKL for out xmas trip.

How would you get them there?

check them in as bagggage at the airport?
I am fearful they will be stolen. I have had bags come up missing in the past

Or send them UPS or FedEx.

We arrive on the 24th of December.

Thanks for your help,
Connie

I would ship everything to the resort. Work just posted a warning to travelers at Christmas from the FAA. It said that wraped presents were also subject to searchs and would need to be unwraped. I can just picture people getting to security with a lot of wrapped presents and the line behind them geting longer and longer and people getting more upset and unpleasent. Besides with shipping you can get the insurance. LOL

I would UPS myself a box. Be certain to put your arrival date on the box. if you are uncertain of the appropriate procedure, call your resort (The phone number is on the back of your confirmation ) and speak to someone at the front desk. I am certain they can help you. I would NOT travel with the packages.

Well gosh. I wasn't going to take gifts. We were going to celebrate Christmas BEFORE going to DW on the 22nd because I didn't want to hassle with presents once we were there. Will my kids (17, 14, 13) feel left out on Christmas Day if we have already had Christmas but they see everyone else with gifts? Does anyone else NOT take presents to DW?

Another thing I worried about if taking their presents was that they would get stolen. DS is getting a Playstation II with games and one DD is getting an electric guitar with amplifier. The other DD doesn't know what she wants yet  Each of those gifts is $300+ not to mention sort of bulky to fly back with.

Continuation from above post...

I do plan to take stockings, though, and gifts to stuff in the stocking, so they at least have something on Christmas morning.

What about taking envelopes with a picture of the gift and hanging the envelopes on a small tree or putting them in a stacking? Theat way they are surprised and going home is not such a bummer. The actual gift is waiting to be tried out. No lugging, no theft, no problem..........

I would take the small stuff for a little surprise but with the ages of your children I wouldn't bother with the hassel. My children love the stocking stuff so I would do that if I was ever going for Christmas.
Everyone who is going for the holidays I hope you have a great time and some nice weather.

I'd tell my kids that the WDW trip was their present & then surprise them when they get home. It sounds kind of mean, but you know how depressing it is to come home from a vacation, right? This way they'll have something exciting to cheer them up. :) They'll only hate you for a little while!!

The other problem with shipping stuff to yourself is getting it back home. Carry ons are so limited these days. You'd have to bring an extra suitcase to take everything home. It seems like a big pain! :(

If the ages of your kids traveling ..required gifts...I would definately ship them to the resort to avoid them from becoming MIA on the flight.....

Thanks for all of your replies.

I am going to ship them to the resort. I also have a xbox, which I think I will have my husband carry as a carry-on in my big bag I use for my student's graded papers. The rest of the things I will send fedex.
I would go the stocking route, but my son is only six years old, and he still believes in Santa.

I will ring AKL to check on their policy.

Once again thanks for your help.

I think shipping the gifts is the way to go! Happy planning!

I wouldn't take them, I would celebrate Christmas before we left. Then on Christmas morning I would make a little stocking for the kids with Disney dollars, some pins, little things that I could pack in a suitcase.
