How does Mousekeeping clean the glasses?

I've never seen Mousekeeping actually "clean" the glasses. They have always taken the dirty ones out, and brought in new ones off their cart. Looking at the cart, there's a whole rack of new glasses, so I assumed they were run through a dishwasher. I have a habit of rinsing mine out with boiling water to sterilize them before I use them anyway (and often bring a cup from home to use).

I will never use glasses at a hotel again!! I lived in Vegas for 3 years and they were starting use the plastic ones. I'll make sure to bring my own - I don't care how clean Mickey claims to be - I don't trust ANYONE!!!

We bring a sleeve of those red plastic cups when we go, of course, we also bring our own sheets and pillowcases and clean tubs and showers ourselves first.

I thought I was the only one who brought that stuff!!! I'm glad to know that I'm not as senile as people think...........
And if by chance I forget my sheets, I ALWAYS bring a blanket and will just sleep on top of the bed under my blanket.....

We're not senile, you and I, we're smart!!:rotfl:

Mousekeeping came to our room one day as we were leaving, and then I had to go back to get something and our cups and glasses were in the bathroom sink stacked up with water running over them. Gross! This was at the Poly.

:rotfl2: Happy vacation.

I feel like I grew up my whole life going to hotels and I am still alive. I'll chance it. I have other things I'd rather be doing when I am there than cleaning the tub!
I think it is time for an intervention.
Step away from the Clorox wipes.

Well, it takes about 10 minutes to do it all, we clean them b/c my child has eczema, and she lives her life with open sores or some sort on her body most times, and i do not want to chance bacteria that could cause her problems. But..to each their own..as long as you have fun!

Hey my oldest has Eczema too. Or I should say he had. We thankfully have had it under control for the past 7 years. His was allergy triggered! It was a nightmare getting him diagnosed- they tried to say it was hand foot mouth disease since it was pool season.
I started trying to stop it myself after slathing him with steroids one day. So we went backwards and tried to find a common trigger. For him it was red dye in Gatorade?:confused3 But he doesn't react to other red dyes
I also had to use ONLY cetaphil soap.
Any other soap makes him start with the dry patches.

I also discovered that washing his clothing in Tide free was the only thing that would stop the itchy skin- the red patches ect. I also double rinse everything.
Every now and then I try to switch to regular detergent and he reacts immediately.
Good luck to you and your child.

I am sorry if I offended you- you are so right to each his own. And I would do anything I thought was necessary to protect my child. So I get it now!

No worries, no offense taken...hers are seasonal allergies that cause it.

I use to work as a housekeeper at a fairly nice Best Western hotel. We were told just to rinse out all glasses and we put little paper covers on the tops which made it look like they were clean. The water they were rinsed in wasn't always that hot and there was no soap used. I asked once about taking the glasses to the dishwasher in the restaurant. I was told we didn't have time, didn't have room on our carts....I never drink out of hotel glasses. I am pretty sure that the comforters were washed once a year, maybe twice.

Let's keep this discussion on topic everyone. If we are talking about hotels in general this thread belongs on the community board.

Please share your information about the WDW resorts.

Thanks for this link. I think it's important for people to know so they can make their own decisions about their health.

I'd heard about this because I live near Atlanta and after hearing it, I started bringing my own plastic cups when I travel.

My most recent stays at CSR and AS-Sports.. they had plastic cups individually sealed in plastic liner.

I always buy the free refill mugs when I go to WDW and fill them several times a day. Never use the glasses left, just the refill mugs. I wash it out with hot, hot water after every use to make sure it's clean.

You know Palmolive used to make disposable dish wash wipes for travel. They had a little detergent in them and you could scrub out a sippy cup or whatever. I don't know if they still make them?
