How does MDE assign tickets to days if have multiple tickets in account?

ok..... now I'm confused (again) I am trying to sift down thru details of doing this in my mind- if I attach the unused multi day ticket into my account ,and then make a park reservation, then I choose to use a *different* ticket attached my account for entry instead, I can no longer sitch it to a 'fake me' profile to use at a later time? Does this mean that, say I had 3 different tickets in my account,my profile, none of those, even completely unused tickets, can be switched to another 'fake me' profile etc for another use if I've made a park reservation at all on my account?

As long as you have valid tickets linked to the profile that you are using to book park reservations, for the dates you are booking, you’ll be fine.

This would affect someone who does not have other tickets linked, and is trying to book park reservations that require the entitlements of the ticket you want to move.

Here’s an example. My daughter had a 3-day ticket linked for a stay with me last month. She also had a 1-day ticket linked for a quick trip with her husband in November. She had 4 days of park reservations booked. When we stopped to prioritize the 3-day one last month, the cm took it upon herself to create a dummy account and transfer the 1-day ticket to it. A few days later, my daughter got a notification that the 1-day park reservation would be canceled if she did not link valid admission. She transferred the 1-day ticket back to her main profile, and all was well.

When you try to book a park reservation, all the system checks is that you have valid admission linked for that day you are trying to book. It doesn’t care which ticket you then actually use to enter the park.

As long as you maintain a valid ticket in your MDE account (*your* profile), the park reservations will be fine -- a ticket valid for the same date(s) as the park reservation.

Here's a hypothetical that could get messed up:
  • Someone has an old unused non-expiring ticket sitting in their profile
  • They make park reservations for July 2022, but don't yet buy the tickets because they aren't completely sure about the trip.
  • They buy regular dated tickets for a short January 2022 trip and make park reservations.
  • They don't want the non-expire tickets to be used in January and decide to move the non-expire tickets to *fake me* profile to prevent any mix-up in January. The park reservations for July 2022 will be lost because the park reservations don't transfer to the *fake* profile, only the non-expiring ticket transfers to the *fake* profile.

If you have multiple tickets, even if you got them "prioritized," always check after you have a day in the parks. I have an annual pass, plus an additional ticket that was assigned to me. Last August, we had a 2-week trip and went to a park just about every day. About half-way through the trip, they quit using my AP and started using my other ticket. I did not notice until we had been home and it had been a few weeks.

Fast forward to when I wanted to apply the cost of that "other" ticket to my AP renewal. It now shows that is has been used and so they couldn't apply the cost to the AP renewal. It also shows that I used it, so I cannot transfer it. So now I have a random ticket riding around in my account waiting for a time when I do not have an AP and will use it. Oddly, it shows no expiration, so I guess eventually I will be able to use it, but still. It's a pain.

Just chiming it with almost everyone else, my DIL story. Had a few days left on non expiration ticket. In April, stopped at GS to ask about making sure the new dated ticket is used. Took forever, my DD send the older kids on their own into the parks (it was only open a few more hours at this point, the getting to parks at 2 turned into 7 after weather delays with airplanes), any way, she got it "fixed". About two weeks later , my DD is looking at pictures and notice DIL no longer has a ticket left. Took a bunch of phone calls and emails to get it fixed.

So check your tickets while you are still there.

ahhhh...I see now- so the only problem that could arise from doing this would be the park reservations for the future trip-they would go away the (unused) ticket itself can still be transferred to fake me, and back again....is this correct? And this is b/c the system would (in this scenario) only see the newer tickets in the system, and thus can only reserve for the Jan trip.(?) so if I have nothing else planned ahead (reservation wise) it should be fine

We learned the hard way that even if you prioritize your tickets ahead of time if you change from a room only stay to a package stay the package ticket will supersede the room only ticket even if the room only ticket still has days available. You will need to reprioritize your tickets when your package starts.
