How does it work with cars?

We're newbies exploring the possibility of buying an RV for our family. We had our first experimental trip this weekend, and are planning more for next season. As part of our exploration, we are arranging an RV rental to use at the Fort next summer. So, this is my first of what I am certain will be many questions. How does parking/driving work? I know you aren't allowed to drive around the fort, but we do often drive to the parks instead of using the bus system? Are you allowed to drive in and out of the camping loops? Will we need to park our car at the external lot and take the bus out to our car? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

The main modes of transportation WITHIN the Fort are walking, bicycle and golf cart (and we've seen Segways and scooters). The boat at the marina takes you to MK and from there you can get to the transportation terminal via Monorail. You can park your vehicle at your site and use it to get to and from the exit to get you where you need to go outside the Fort, but you can't drive around within the Fort in your vehicle.

Your allowed (and only supposed to have, evn though it is not rigidly enforced uniformly) 1 car at your site or cabin and you will have full in and out privledges. You will need to use the buses in the Fort as there are no long term parking areas at the pool, marina or settlements. There is however a 15 min lot at the Meadows Trading post for a quick shopping trip.

Edit: was typing while goofyfamily was posting, hence some duplication.

To be clear, you can park your car at the site and drive to the parks!! However, if you want to take a boat to Magic Kingdom, then you'll need to walk, bike, golfcart, or bus to the area, then take the boat.

Taking your own car to the Magic Kingdom is not recommended cause you then have to park, take the tram to the front of the parking lot, then monorail or ferry over to the Magic Kingdom

We're looking into the possibility of a cabin next summer - BUT, we would have 2 cars...5 adults, 1 child. Where would the other car park?:confused3

We haven't been back since July 4th weekend, but we've heard that the overflow lot is now closed to the general public, but visitors and other vehicles that exceeds the vehicle allowed at the site or cabin would park in the overflow lot at the main entrance. We always bring or rental a golf cart, so that would be the thing to do to drive back and forth to your extra vehicles.

We don't drive our own cars after we reach the Fort at all. We always take the boat to MK and take off from there or hop on a bus from the Fort.
