How does it work when relatives offer to get you in?

Over the holiday, a very distant relative offered, but I didn't want to sound greedy and ask a bunch of questions. Of course, it would be more than awesome for us and it would allow us to afford to go to two parks instead of just one like we had planned, so I'd like to, but I don't want to take advantage of her either. Do you get a regular pass that you can use as a fast pass? Is it only for the park that the employee works at? Do the employees only get to let relatives in on certain days, or only so many times a year? She gave me her cell phone number and nachalantly told me to call her when we got there. What do you all think? Thanks!

Don't feel bad about accepting her offer (since she made the offer to you). Without going into a lot of detail the CM's get a pass which allows them to get friends and family in the parks. The only times they are restriced from the pass is during peak seasons and some holiday (Christmas week/New Years week, Fourth of July that kind of stuff). You will get a ticket at the turnstile (after the CM pass is used) that is just like a regular ticket, you can use it in the Fastpass machines just like everyone else, the only difference is that the pass is valid at all 4 parks for the day it was issued so you can go to MK in the morning and Epcot at night (or whatever). Don't feel bad about allowing her to use it on you...honestly...they are only issued so many a year (a new one starts over at the begining of every year) but most CM's don't even use the amount they are given. For example, my family lives in Orlando, since we have all been to the parks so many times they don't use my pass, so mine is "Only" used when relatives/friends from out of town are coming...Give her a call, it is a great opportunity for you :)

Thanks for responding so quickly.

Well, we will be going next week, but she didn't mention any restrictions with the holiday, but I think I'll call and think of it as a nice surprise if it works out.

We've only been to MK, so we were going to do an all dayer at MGM this time. How fantastic would it be if we got to do 2 parks with the free hopper pass on one day and then a 3rd park on a second day with us paying as planned!

Oh my, I've never park hopped either, maybe I should do some planning just in case, trying not to get my hopes up, but the planning and dreaming is almost as fun, right?

I'll have to get her some type of gift for doing this also.

Thanks for the info!

It really depends on what his/her position is at the park. I have a friend who is in a pretty high up position, and she has an unlimited amount of passes with no restrictions on them.

The Unlimited pass is only issued to Management and higher (and still has restriction and blackout days).

As for the blackout dates (when she would not be able to get you in)... MK is blocked out until Jan 3, Epcot is only blocked on New Years Eve, MGM is blocked the 27-31 and AK is blocked the 27-30.

So she could get you into Epcot no problem. She may also have some comp tickets which are different from her pass and have no restrictions on them, but you would need to check with her on that :)

Either way have fun on your trip :)
