I am certain that Disney could not offer free dining to DVC members who are using points. How do DVC members take advantage of this offer? Thanks and Go Vols!
If/when free dining is offered, DVC members who want to get free dining need to book (and pay for) a resort-room-and-ticket package as required by the 'rules' of the promotion.
It's probably not worth it for DVC members unless you were going to stay in a non dvc resort anyway. I just figured out a package during that time period for 4 nights at pop would cost us over $500 for the two of us. I'd rather use points for the nicer DVC accommodations and pay less than $400 for the meals (plus we have annual passes).
We are DVC members and had free dining, but not on points.
We did the minimum 3 night stay (twice), and bought 1 day base tickets. We stayed at ASMo (at the beginning), moved to BWV and paid for dining for 9 nights, then moved to POFQ for our last weekend at the end. We then used the one day base tickets towards our annual pass renewal.
Even paying for the plan on points (which is what we did in between the 2 free stays) is a very good deal.
