We are going to Universal/IOA in August. This will be our first time staying onsite. Can someone please explain how the FOTL passes work?

1. Can it be used for ALL the rides in both parks or is it just selected ones?
2. Is there a limit to how many times you can use it on a single ride?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Very few rides don't use the FOTL passes you get from staying on-site. Pteranadon Flyers in one of them. For Shrek, there is no marked line but you line up oon the left instead of the right with everyone else.
It is usually unlimited unless the lines get very unreasonable like during the summer, then they can limit it to riding a ride once during certain times of the day.

When you go to Shrek be sure to let them know you're staying on site. They will tell you there's no express entrance because there really isn't. Just show your room key and they will show you where to go.

There were certain dates last year during the summer when FOTL was limited to once per attraction until after 3:00PM.

Some people said they weren't enforcing it and others said they were. You may want to ask your travel agent or call your resort to see if it will apply when you are there. I seem to recall August was one of the times people were complaining about.

Either way you'll be fine with it, you just can't run back onto the Hulk 5 times in a row like our kids did last time.

Here's a thread about it:
