How Does Food Work

So, just curious...how MUCH is an alcoholic drink on the ship? I just attended a function locally and paid $7.50 for a small seven and seven

So if I understand what has been said - we have to pay extra for snacks to go into the theatre - if we want popcorn for a movie - we pay more? how much anyone know?

Are there any other options aside soda for kids to drink?

Thanks

Cat

And just FYI, it is not freshly popped popcorn. It's pre-packaged bags of popcorn. You are also allowed to bring food from anywhere else on the ship into the theater. We usually pack a few movie snacks in our luggage so we have them on the ship. We'll also grab fruit from Goofy's Galley, pizza from Pinocchio' or chicken fingers and fries from Plutos as our movie snack. Oh, and there's a nice cheese & cracker platter on the room service menu that would great at the movies!

I think you'll pay between $5 and $7 for most drinks but they do have drink specials. Check your Navigator each day for the Drink of the Day and any 2-for-1 specials they have. Also, lots of people bring their own alcohol onboard and mix their drinks in their room.

I'm not a big drinker so bringing alcohol on board would be a bigger waste of money since you can't take open liquor off the ship. A couple of drinks won't break the budget, it's the pins that will do me in. :lmao:

Here is a fairly recent price list from one of the lounges onboard....as you can see prices are very reasonable and they always have a "DRINK OF THE DAY" that is less expensive than the other drinks.

Yes, all food is free on-board, apart from things sold at Preludes and the other stores. Along with Palos and on-shore eateries (exculuding Castaway Cay). If you do need to pay for anything on the ship, you can either pay cash, or have it charged to your room card. It is much easier to pay with room card, as you don't have to worry about losing any cash. (Plus, you can buy loads and you're family members won't know how much you've spent ;))

Smoothies are also sold on deck, for a nice price of $3 per drink, and again you can use room card. Don't forget to try a chocolate smoothie. ;)

My bold.

You cannot pay with cash -- the ships are cashless. When shopping, playing bingo, purchasing alcoholic beverages as well as non-alcoholic specialty drinks like smoothies or coffees, and the candy, you must pay with your card. Your card will be swiped and your purchases will be charged to your account. The stores, bars, etc are not equipped to take cash or to swipe credit cards -- the only system available to the CMs is to swipe your KTTW card and charge to your room.

Now, if you bring cash aboard, you can just go to Guest Services and ask for it to be applied to your account. They'll be happy to do that :)

I could have sworn we paid cash at one point or another. Obviously it was just for tips.:rolleyes1

Also on a side note, alcohol can be brought onto the ship, which can be cheaper than buying on-board.

I've heard that the movie snacks are pretty expensive. I'm ordering a large gift basket from Shirley for our trip so was just thinking that some of those snacks could be our movie snacks.

If you like potato chips as a snack (for movies or otherwise), there is a big bowl of individual bags of chips by Pluto's, where they have the condiments set out for the burgers. My girlfriend and I took several of those little bags back to our stateroom to have on hand as snacks. Also, if you like granola, you can get the little boxes of it at the breakfast buffet -- I think they make a great snack too :)

So, if I wanted to sit in my room and order room service all day, I could and its included in the price (besides tip)? Or if I wanted to go get CS all day, I can? This is crazy awesome!

be careful...it's a lot of food! I always pace myself in the beginning...fresh fruit, fish choices at dinner, lo-carbs....by the end of the cruise i'm getting 2 entrees, desserts and wolfing down bacon at breakfast...not a pretty sight!

ok...ok...i'm kidding about the 2 entrees and desserts (but the part about the bacon is true!)...its my dh that gets the doubles (and always regrets it)...

If you want to order room service all the livelong day :) , you go right ahead. If you want to try to eat a few dozen ice cream cones all in one afternoon :lmao: , then go for it!

It all seems so wonderful -- and it is, it is -- but the caution to be careful is spot-on! It's so easy to overdo it. But PLEASE don't hesitate to go for what you really want -- for example, my girlfriend and I frequently ordered extra appetizers because we wanted to try them all :rotfl: And I was near a man who always ordered his dinner, with a steak on the side. Every night

As for restrictive diets, I took a all girls cruise a while back and one my my friends is diabetic. She had no problems getting enough food. She had said that the sugar-free deserts were out of this world. Each night she had a different one. You will have to ask for them at the buffets as they are not sitting out.

please try to only take/order what you honestly think you can eat, I've seen way to many people at buffets, and at dinner wasting platefuls of food!

We would never waste platefuls of food. I'm just trying to clear on what's included.

Let's see. You wake up and reach for the phone and order coffee and rolls - included (they may not arrive for a bit, though and you should tip). You finish your shower and want a more substantial breakfast, you eat a sit down meal at Tritons/Lumiere's (included), you order a mimosa with breakfast (billed to your room). You feel a little hungry a bit later and swing though the breakfast buffet at Topsiders/BBB or Parrot Cay for a little snack of granola and yogurt, included. Its getting to be lunch time. You review the sit down menu at Lumiere's (included) and decide you'd rather eat up by the pool. You have a lunch from the buffet, including a dessert. About three o'clcock you could use a little nosh - they have cookies out by the beverage station (cookies and beverages included), or you can get pizza, burgers, tacos, sandwiches or salads from the counter service places (included) or soft serve ice cream (included). You decide to skip all this and head over to The Cove where you have a latte (not included) followed by a stop at the nearby adult pool bar for the drink of the day (not included, but the drink of the day is usually under $5). You get ready for dinner and have FOUR courses (included) and a bottle of wine (not included). Your husband can't decide between the chicken dish or the ribs, so the waiter brings both (included). Your son orders a Shirley Temple (included) but your daughter talks you into a smoothie (not included). After dinner you go to the movie theatre where your son gets a box of candy (not included) and you have a martini (not included). You go back to the room and order cookies for the kids from roomservice (included) and a cheese platter for yourselves (included).

Then you explode.

(If you think you might want pop in your room, room service does charge for it. Some people bring a bottle and fill it at the beverage station and keep it in the cooler in the room).

Seriously? They serve martinis at the movie theatre? Sounds deadly.;)
