How does Food and Wine work?

Hey all,

Sorry for the stupid rookie question, but how does F&W work? DW and I LOVE Epcot, and want to go next year to this, but I am unsure how the ticketing process works.

We buy Epcot admission for 100 bucks each, the 97 additional dollars on top of that each? What does that get us? A certain number of tastings of food and drink? Unlimited tastings?

Are rides open during these days? What are the usual operating hours?

Thanks!

I think you must be talking about a premium package or something. When we go to Food & Wine, the only cost is the day's admission plus whatever we choose to eat or drink from the booths. You don't need anything "extra" to experience F&W beyond admission and money to buy whatever you want to eat.

Food & Wine doesn't affect any of the other attractions at the park. It is held every day during the designated timeframe (September 25-November 16). All the booths are located in the World Showcase, which opens at 11:00.

and its not like any other snooty food and wine events (like my city boooo) and you can pay for what you want! YAY!

They set up booths, some within their country and others that don't have a country on the WS (like South Korea) but still get a booth. Each have 2-3 food options and many of them also have beers/wines to choose from that country, as well. Food ranges from like $3-8 IIRC and the drinks a little more than that. It's a blast, eat and drink whatever you desire and skip the stuff that you may not enjoy as much.

My Golden Rule, always try something you've NEVER had before!

I've relied on the reviews on wdwmagic.com, and he's never steered me wrong. And he reviews darn near everything (especially the drinks)

If you have ever been to flower and garden, it's similar with more booths and lots more wine. I would suggest not booking any special events the first year, just go to the Festival Center when you get there and look around, if you are interested maybe pick up one culinary or one wine seminar (they are $15 this year) and go from there. At some point after it opens this weekend someone will be posting pictures of all the booths with their menus so if you are waiting until next year you can look at those to get a good example. wdwmagic.com and disneyfoodblog have posts about last years you can look at get an idea as well. Even if the booth prices go up I can't imagine they would be that much higher. It's my favorite time to go.

Sorry, forgot to mention these are 2014 prices but hopefully have not changed much

At the Dessert and Champagne booth Ruinart Blanc de Blanc was 22.75 a pour and Dom was 32. Totally worth it when you are celebrating having finished a half marathon!

Wow, thanks. This entire website is really an unbelievable resource.

Everything at Epcot is open during the Food and Wine Festival and most of the Festival takes place around World Showcase but the Festival center is in Future World (at the Old Wonders of Life pavilion). The only thing different about doing Epcot during the Festival is that there will be even more food and drink options around World Showcase, there will be nightly concerts in America (no extra cost) and Saturday nights will be, er, extremely crowded. If you do plan on doing the Festival, you might want to consider not making any dining reservations for each night you do the Festival as most people think snacking around the world is good enough. But that's up to you and you might want to see what happens your first day of the Festival and then adjust as needed - keeping in mind cancellation policies.

Also - while it's called the Food & Wine Festival, there are enough non alcoholic offerings and lots of beer offerings and some more potent offerings available. It's really a nice time to relax and enjoy your vacation.
