How does everyone incorporate their eating plan?

I am curious how everyone else is incorporating their new food habits into their lives. Are you cooking the same foods for everyone in the family? Making a seperate meal for yourself? Just curious!

My family: My DH has to eat carb-free after 4 pm because of high blood pressure (the doctor recommended this for 6-8 weeks). He gets one night a week 'off', per doctor. I am doing WW. As a family we are trying to all eat carb free after 4 pm, not that the kids (7, 9) realize that. (Am I making any sense?)

We will have chicken, broccoli and green beans. Another sample is tacos. The kids have traditional tacos and salad. DH and I have taco salads with appropriate fixings.

What is everyone else doing?

My husband and I both follow the Atkins plan. My son does too but he lives in Houston now and not with us so that isn't really relevant, is it? I digress.

My husband and I eat the same meal when he is at home but on nights (like tonight) when he doesn't come home for dinner, I usually make myself a chef salad or something like that and he eats with clients, following the Atkins plan, of course :)

This works well for us, we both have the same allowed foods.

I usually make a meat and veggies and a salad and then add some potatoes or noodles for the rest of the family. It's quite easy to do with this way of eating.

I can imagine the frustration with some other plans. I hate to cook as so as it is and would REALLY hate to be preparing two seperate meals.

Easy solution ---- go out to eat!
:D

You mean I'm supposed to feed these other people??????

;)

:teeth:

I cook for myself now and feed the rest of my family whatever they want...My Dh and two kids have the same thing and I cook that first and then I have whatever I want and eat later, as I used to do anyway. :)

For the first four weeks, I cooked a separate meal for my hubby and I had my WW meal. This week he took the plunge (and has already lost 4 pounds and his official weigh in day isn't until Monday!) ;) and I've been making him a WW BLD & Snack. :) He is enjoying it!!! My sister made oatmeal cookies for my parents (parents living with us for another month or so until they move into their new house). Anyway, my husband LOVES my sister's oatmeal cookies and he hasn't had one! :) He is so charged up about his weight loss that he is one determined guy! :)

I'm really happy to prepare WW meals for the both of us! :)

I've always cooked a wide variety of foods at dinnertime because one likes this and one likes that so there is always plenty of choices for each of us. My food bill reflects this too!

We're all in this together!:p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p
We do other things together as well. We go to the Y together. We make fun of Burger King commercials together. We talk about our goals for healthy living together. We really have made it sort of a focal point of our family, because if we don't, our lifestyle, genetics and peer pressure, will get the best of us. (DH already has pre-diabetic, if not full blown type 2, I am a good 30 lbs overweight, DD is heading in the same direction, and DS, though by all appearances, is healthy, could do with a crash course in healthy living) We HOPE this will eventually become second nature, which is why we are slowly incorporating these changes into our lives. Good luck to all of us!

Keep the Faith!

DH and I work opposite shifts. DDs (2 and 5) don't eat a lot. We eat at MIL's one day and my parents a day. On top of that DDs are on a different eating schedule than I am during the week. I like to eat dinner between 4:30-5pm, they just had lunch at 1pm or sometimes 2:30pm. I usually fix one meal during the week that we eat together and the other day I fix separate items. On the weekend I fix for the entire family, I just don't eat some of the items I fix (mac n cheese, gravy), I fill up on the sides I can have. DH would never eat the things I eat (egg beaters, veggies, fruit)...he doesn't care for those things. I wish he would get on the plan with me.
