How Does Disney Measure Heights?

We have been many times and understand about the signs they use, but I'm wondering how the height of those signs is calculated?

(LOL - In looking for a picture for my question I think I may just have answered it but will post it here anyway in case it helps someone else.)

My question was going to be, 'Is it a true 42" (as an example) from ground to the height bar or do they account for shoes and therefore make their signs slightly higher? (eg. 42 1/4"?)

The answer is that it is a true 42" from the ground to the bar.

My DD is hoping to ride Rock 'n Roller Coaster this fall but I'm not sure if she'll be tall enough. She's a shade shy of 48" now (with still a bit of growing time) but is 48" plus with the shoes she normally wears to the park.

I'll still let her know that it might not work out to save her the disappointment but will see what happens when she reaches the measurement stick.

As long as the head touches or passes the bottom of the marker they are good, my granddaughter has here special shoes for those rides the she would be to small for in bare feet or flats

As long as the shoes aren't crazy tall or obviously being worn to get around the measurement, a child who is that height in shoes shold be fine.

BUT! We all shrink as the day goes on. So for any important rides, go first thing in the morning. Get lots of rest, hydrate well (we shrink because the liquid inside our intervertebral discs squeezes out from right in between the vertebrae from gravity and the forces of the day, so hydration has a part in it), and go early. And never expect a re-ride on a bigger ride like that, because the very forces that made it so fun can compress the person just enough so they don't hit the mark the second time around.

Stand up straight and tall, no slouching, and you WANT to hit that marker!

Thanks for your help and great advice! I'll be surprised if she still wants to go on it once we get there but hopefully she'll surprise me! Love RnRC but normally can't ride it as she hasn't been tall enough until this trip.

Just noticed your signature. 12th trip and age 6? Awesome! My kind of parenting! lol We took my twins at 13 weeks old and we are heading back with they are 10 months.

We are HUGE Disney fans and Disney talk is almost a daily occurrence in our home. :) I adopted my amazing dd from China when she was 8 months old and I received her passport at 14 months which would allow us to travel outside of Canada. We had her passport in hand for less than 48 hours when I booked her first Disney trip!

It's wonderful that you started your twins so early! How did your first trip go @Raenstoirm ? I followed some of your prep questions before you left.
