how does changing dates work for Disney Trips

i had a upcoming reservation at Port Orleans for April 11-13 but since Disney 24 event was announced i want to change my Dates to May 22-25 staying at the same resort i will be at 39 days tomorrow so i know there will be a fee to pay since i am under 45 days i also have a set of magic bands that will be shipping soon since it has 10 days left till it locks in will they just change the reservation number on the bands ?

In theory, they should be able to change the dates no problem, just call them up and let them know and they should be able to go through everything with you including room availability and fees. Now, with the clusterfarkas that is MB, MDE and FP+, don't be surprised if you get 2 sets of MBs...or in some cases, 5.

okay thanks i pretty much had a idea on how the change dates will be with no problem but my confusion was towards the magic bands in which i will be receiving two sets. thank you once again.

I could be wrong but as I understand it (and was told by a CM) when I almost changed my dates well past the 45 day mark back this past November as long as you are not decreasing the number of days or decreasing the amount of money you have spent they will not charge you any fee for changing dates. I am fairly sure about this.

Oh and when I added one day to my trip well before we left they sent me another invitation to customize my magic bands for the extra day. So I also received two sets of Magic bands for the family. So we have each color, we did not even use the extra set of 3 bands!

Did you get a discount for your April trip? That would be my only concern, is there a similar discount available for those May dates.

ok thanks i will be deciding later but i am actually adding a extra day if i was to do the May trip so that is good to hear that they won't add a fee if i'm not decreasing the amount of pay or days.

yes i do the Florida Residents Discount since i live in Miami but i will be paying more since i will be adding a extra day to the Trip on top i have annual pass so tickets aren't a concern.
