How does adding a day affect making Fps?

So today we added a day to the beginning of our trip. We are still working with the TA to figure out what we want to do for tickets. With the added day, I can make my Fps tonight at midnight. Will not yet having a ticket for each day mean, at this point, that there is one day I can't make Fps for or is it based on hotel res? If i return the tickets I currently have to change them to a different kind (we are going from the ones with water park admission, to ones with out), will that wipe out my fps?

1. If you add a "day" to a ticket, you can make FP+ reservations for that additional day.

2. The number of days of FP+ reservations is based on the number of days for which you have valid park admission.
The date that you can begin reserving FP+ is based on whether you have a room booked at a WDW resort or not.
