So we were thinking of buying a small resale just to get our foot in the door. How does adding on work? We have to add on points where our original purchase is? If not, then can we use the total points to stay wherever we want? Is it difficult to add on. I've heard mention of a waitlist here is that for adding on points? Would it just be better to wait and do a big purchase later? We are a family of 5 and usually travel with my mom so we need alot of points. TIA

If you want to add-on at SSR, OKW, HHI or VB, it's very simple. Call to DVC...downpayment on the credit card...paperwork will be in the mail shortly. Sign and notarize and you're done.

If you want the other resorts, the add-on will be subject to availability. DVC doesn't often have points at BCV, BWV or VWL sitting around for all use years. It just depends on how many they have (if any), how many you want, and how many folks are ahead of you on the list waiting for the same resort and Use Year.

When you own points at multiple resorts, you can only book at 11 months up to the number of points you own at that resort. If you add-on 50 OKW points, you can book 50 points annually at 11 months (or 100 points using two years' worth, or 150 using three years' worth.)

you can book anything at 7 months or less - that is available.

SSR is the most expensive - and that is what DVC Is currently selling.

if you go to the resale route - I would just buy enough points to do what you want.

You can add on through DVC at any DVC resort - if available (I am pretty sure if DVC get enough request for a certain resort - they will go after resales for it themselves). but remember that add on through DVC will be more expensive than thru a resaler.

Perhaps. Depends on the number of points. For those adding-on 100 or more, the price goes down to $87 per point with no '05 dues. And, if you add-on 120 or more, you also get that one-time bonus allocation of 100 points.

The older resorts are a flat $89 with 12 fewer years.
