How do your grown children feel about DVC?

CPA's are good at estate planning, too....not that I'm married to one and biased or anything....:rotfl:

actually, one would be well advised to consult with both an estate planning attorney and a CPA: the former to make sure that your documents are legally binding and the latter to analyze and anticipate any tax issues arising from how you structure your estate.

I'll ignore the adoption part:goodvibes ...no offense, but DH just told me that he really did mention to his "people at work" that since they're all working this weekend, maybe they would like a weekend at DVC!! It's been mentioned before and yes, we just may do it, as a tag onto our June/July '10 family VB/WDW trip! I don't even know the people (yet), but he talks about them and I think it would work. I've done the math:teacher: So far our guests (other than family) have been mostly "mine" I'm actually thrilled that he would want to share it too.

Sharing is good. I'm sure that earns you points with the scorekeepers in the great beyond.

We just invited another friend to join us this Spring. So that makes the 4th trip? planned this year with a friend or family member. I guess GM and I are getting a posse.

Seriously though, 930 points? Do you faint when the maintenance bill comes? :faint:

You enjoy your trips and write about them to share your pleasure...that's quite a gift for us all to appreciate. Thank you.

We share the ownership of a house in Cape May with my DSis. Those fees cost us nearly double the MF for a year. Of course, there's a difference, the equity is more stable, well, just a bit. Very, very few people have come to Ohio to visit us, but we get takers if we mention Cape May or DVC:goodvibes That's fine, when we're in Ohio, we are probably working.

Also, it is so true that you can't take it with you. DM can't travel anymore, but she is my role model. She shared when she was able to, and she paid the way for some to join us on vacations (this very often when she sort of invited herself to come with us. :rotfl: Mom loved to travel, she has lived in NJ all of her life and constantly took buses to NYC. She enjoyed the culture, the variety of experiences that were waiting to be enjoyed there. The :lovestruc NYC gene didn't come to me, but DSis inherited it!) Mostly, DM has showed me that you do what you can when you can, because things change.

I empathize with you there. Our beach place costs a lot more than the timeshares. It was a bit of an issue for us when we found ourselves travelling to timeshares more than the beach a few years ago and the housing market was burning hot. But it makes a great getaway for the school-bound nieces and nephews. And with a little TLC it's made a nice summer getaway for us now too. The main reason I do not want to use DVC for Vero or Hilton Head is because we have an even better beach retreat waiting for us 2-3 hrs drive away. The pool facilities aren't as modern but the place holds all our stuff.

GM and I are very blessed to have what we do. That's why we want to share it so much. Blessings should be cherished and shared. I'm pleased my stories of our travels are another way of sharing.

My mom taught me that lesson too. She caught her travel bug years ago and was forever inviting me along. Life is meant to be savored not suffered through. It's that much more special when you can share your love of a good savoring with someone else.

We have talked about DVC with friends. One of them is very skeptical about WDW and my DH is making it his mission to convince him that the Mouse is fun for everyone! So a future trip with these friends is in the works.
Happy Planning on your trip! Share the joy!:grouphug:

I completely agree. Life is not a dress rehearsal. You got to live, live, live. (The latter is an "Auntie Mame" quote.)

24yo DD enjoys it ~ she & i have another mom & daughter trip this may (we get along very well).
20yo DS likes it, but found most of his friends can't go b/c of the price of airfare & tix (we would give them the room free). i see a twinge of jealousy when DD & i mention our trip, but i don't think he could handle our "touring method": shop, lounge at the pool, shop, an attraction or 2, shop, stop into EPCOT for a grey goose slushie, shop.......;)

DVC has helped us with so many great memories (including with my entire immediate family or just DH & self, parents, my brother & his family)....owning has meant finding the (2x a year) time for us to relax & enjoy one another, no matter what else might be going on (yes, we've suffered thru job loss, severe illness, etc, but having the option of renting points made it possible to use that money for airfare ~ 400 points gives us a bit of flexibility without it becoming a burden ;) ).

life is good....DVC helps us indulge that:thumbsup2
