We will be in WDW next month and want to take a look at both SSR and OKW but I do not want to set up an official tour with DVC since it is my understanding that once you meet with them and do not buy, you an no longer eligible for future deals which I want to save for a potential Contemporary DVC.

Can you go to the resorts and see the rooms?

Isn't there a set of model rooms in SSR? If so, can you just walk in on your own to take a look at them? What times are these models available?

I believe that you would only lose the possibility of future discounts for the resorts your tour now. Since Contemporary Villas is not even announced, touring SSR would not have any impact on future Contemporary Villa special offers.

We originally toured BWV, but then when we came to sign the contract, we told our guide that we changed our minds, and we wanted OKW. Since we had never toured OKW, the special OKW offer was automatically granted when they rewrote the contract -- we didn't even have to ask.

I know there is an SSR sales center with models. I do not think there are OKW models to be viewed. But perhaps they can make some kind of arrangement for you through the OKW front desk? I don't know.

We just went to OKW and asked it they had a room that we could view in between check out and check in. We specified which room set up we wanted to see and we were lucky they had something available to show us. They don't have an official OKW room for viewing so we weren't too particular. We made sure to tip the cast members that gave us a tour of the Grand Villa, very nice accomodations. We are members and told them we were wanting to get a look at where we would be staying.

BWV has a unit just off of the Boardwalk that you can tour without an appointment.

SSR has a unit that we were able to tour without an appointment as well. We just mentioned that we are members and wanted to check things out. The AKV models were located at SSR the last time we were there in May and were open during special times only. We waited until they were available to look at and then knocked out both SSR and AKV in the same trip.

The only deal you lose out on, is the one they are offering at the time you tour. You will still be eligible for future deals. We toured SSR in Aug 06 but weren't sure yet, the deal offered "expired", I don't remember what the incentive was, just that it was cheaper. In June we went back, toured again, and decided to buy. The deal being offered at the time was $104pt @SSR, with Double Developer points. We took that deal and have trips in Dec and Mar planned with those ddp's! :cool1:
That said, as OP's have mentioned, you can go to SSR and look at the models or to BWV and check out theirs.

Call OKW front desk once you're on property and tell them you'd like to see a room if possible, and can they suggest a likely time during the next few days?

Don't call or go on Sunday or Friday (busiest checkin/out days) and earlier in the day is better than later because checkins start at 4 pm.

When we went in May 2006 they were able to tell us that Wed was the lowest occupancy point for the week and would be the easiest day to let us take a look around.

Good Luck!
