How do you wear your magic band?

On our last trip the magic bands had just come out and we just wore it on our wrists. From what i have been reading, the new bands have a center piece that can pop out and go into some kind of "keeper" to wear on a lanyard, clip on a bag, etc... I love the idea of this, but is it secure -anyone ever have it fall out? Have people moved away from wearing the bands on their wrists? Is it as easy to use at the touch points in a keeper as on a wrist? Just wondering about others' experiences.

The removable part is held in by a small screw, some of the new accessories come with an included screwdriver due to this. No danger of it falling out.

I just wear it on my wrist. It isn't uncomfortable, particularly if you're like me and wear a Fitbit anyway!

I used to wear the old style bands in my wrist....the new one is a bigger puck, so I got a Minnie clip to put it in and plan to hang it on a clip in my bag. I wear a watch, fitness tracker and bracelets, so no more on my wrists

I wear it on my wrist. It doesn't bother me at all & I haven't had any issues using it. Plus, I usually decorate it.

I wear it on my wrist because to me, nothing is as convenient as tapping my wrist against a touch point. I don't carry a bag and don't wear shorts with a belt loop so there isn't anywhere else to clip something. And even if it were clipped somewhere, that isn't as easy to get to as my wrist is. It would not be convenient to pull something out of my pocket each time, so wrist it is

We all just wear it on our wrists and even dh didn't mind after an hour or so.

What was interesting was we realized that dh and I wear them on our left wrists like we wore watches back in the day, but the kids (never watch wearers) wear them on their right wrists.

Before I got a smartwatch I wore mine on my left wrist but now I wear mine on my right. I tried both on the same wrist and that didn't work for me. DGD has a Gizmo smartwatch and she does wear both of hers on the same wrist.

I can't imagine anything being easier than wearing it on your wrist. My only concern is it becoming unclasped and losing it. This used to happen to my old Fitbit all the time. I purchased bitbelts for the magic bands, just in case.

I don't know why Disney hasn't teamed up with a big electronics manufacturer, like Apple, or better yet, Samsung, and developed a smart watch with the functionality of the Magic Band built in. If that puppy is rechargeable, and can do things like access MDE, give me the weather, etc. Yup, I'll pay for it.

I do wear the magic band on my wrist, and it doesn't bother me, even though I never wear a watch, or anything else on my wrist.

If anyone doesn't know you can just get a card. Disney always sends me the magic bands and what a waste as I never wear it. When I check in I have them give me a card. You can use it for everything that a magic band does. I don't think there is anything a magic band can do that a card can't. I don't like wearing a watch is probably the same reason I don't like to wear the magic band.

Bought a Carabiner Magic Keeper to put on my bag. Too hot to wear it on my wrist and the bands irritate ...imo.

In the past, I've worn them on my wrist. Opposite whatever side my fitness tracker was on. Previous trips have all been short, with 3 days in the park, and not during an especially hot time of year. This next trip will be 9 days, in early September when it's still quite hot and humid. I'm thinking wearing the MB might get annoying on a longer trip and with more heat and humidity, so I may get a MagicKeeper while there and put one of the pucks in that (split stay, so 2 new bands). I've got some carabiner retractable badge reels and would attach the MagicKeeper to that, and attach that to the strap of my sling bag, making it just as easy to use the puck as it would be on my wrist.

This is what I did as well. I had one of the cloth covers for the old style MB that made it comfortable to wear in the heat, but it doesn't fit over the new wider band. The first trip with the wider band, I was sweating like crazy under the band (as in my wrist was actually dripping sweat) and it was uncomfortable. Since I wear a crossbody bag, I just clipped the carabiner to the strap and it was fine that way. My BIL always carried his MB in his pocket because he doesn't wear anything on his wrists. He got the carabiner and a retractable clip to attach to his belt.

What's a bitbelt?

Not sure if I am allowed to post a link to this product, so just google it. It's essentially a rubber band you slip over so that it can't become unclasped.

There are some rides that will take your picture and automatically link to your MDE if you have a Magicband but it won't do that for a card. Having a card is such a nuisance and so much easier to lose. I carry all the cards for the family, so at each FP, I would need to take them all out, distribute to everyone, then collect them again. Magicband is the way to go IMO.

I bought the caribeener keeper and a retractable key chain. I pull out the wire when I need to tap the band and it retracts right back. By the way, the puck is screwed in place and the magic keepers come with a tiny screwdriver.

As PP said there is 1 thing you can't get without a MB. You may not care but Mine Train and Frozen ride photos can only be done via MB. There is no touch point at the end of either ride so without auto linking with your MB, no photo.

And if they are turned on, no personalized signs
