Not sure if this is in the right place, but my question is what is the actual process of transferring points from one DVCer's account to another's? How does MS know that the transfer is a legitimate request?

If you are transferring points from your account to another member's account, you would make the call to MS. They would verify your identity in the usual manner. Then you give them the membership number of the other account, and the name. Tell them how many points you want to transfer. Voila, your points are gone! :guilty:

Obviously, you can't call and have someone else's points transferred to you. I think that Disney's feeling is that as long as they're talking to the contract owner, if they want to transfer their points to someone else there's no risk of reprisal down the road. And the person getting the points sure isn't going to complain! ;)

Related question: Can I transfer points from one of my contracts to another? Thanks.

After talking with MS, they will ask you to follow-up, in writing, your request, via fax or e-mail.

Yes if they are seperate 'Master Contracts', i.e. Memberships.

If you have a January UY (Non-existant) with 3 sub contracts at say OKW, BCV and BWV, you can not transfer points between them, as it is all one Master Contract, or membership!

If you have the said January UY and a June UY memberships you can transfer between them, but only in one direction (in or out) each use year!

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tony. Heard back from MS, and that is basically what they told me. We have three sub-contracts, all same use year, all same resort. We want to sell one of them, and unfortunately, the one we want to sell is the one that MS took the points out of for an upcoming trip (that I can't cancel). I also discovered that MS had not applied banked points to that reservation. Now trying to see if they will at least sort that out.

Alice!

Ouch!

They should always used 'distressed points' first when making ressie. Holding, Banked or Borrowed should always be used first.

Call until you get an experienced MS-Advisor, I'm sure they can fix some of this!

Good Luck,

-Tony

May a member with an OKW home resort transfer points to an another owner with a BWV home resort? If so, would the points then be BWV points? Thanks.
