when it come to your spending money how do you take yours?

last year we took the amex tc card but as thats not an option for next year we are trying to work out how to take our money.

dh wants to take all cash, im thinking about tc and money because if you lose the cash you at least have the tc.

so i was wondering how everyone else does it

Nationwide/Post Office/Audi credit card.
+ No charges.
+ Full interbank exchange rate.
+ Extra security in case of loss.
+ Extra security for purchases (charge back).
+ Keep your cash in a high-interest savings account and earn the interest.
+ No need to pay for your spending until you return.

It's a no brainer, IMO.

We take the majority in TC and about $300 in cash. When dh changes a tc i get the change as i can't be bothered carrying i.d around. Dh always has his driving license.

Nationwide CC for same reasons given above,a bit of cash and some TCs
Next year got our money allready out of ATM from our nationwide flexaccount,£600 in cash @ $2.03 still got some TC from the $2 for £1 about £600.Pre paid our dues dvc at $2.03.So only got flights to get

We have been going to Florida for the last 10 years and i never knew that. Why do you have to carry i.d with you at all times?

i take cash and credit cards.

but you're right that if you lose the cash, you've lost it.

i always keep the cash with me, but i'm not out and about in orlando, where i think i might be more worried about having a lot of cash on me...
we pretty much stay within the relatively safe confines of WDW (other than driving straight to sweet tomatoes and back)..

I take cash, also Nationwide CC just in case DW sees something she likes

Same reason they want to introduce ID cards over here,If police stop you they want to know who they are talking to is the corect person.Found out when got cashing a TC once, they were shocked we dident carry id over here, asked what would happen if in an accident who to get hold of ect

You learn something everyday.

Nationwide cc. Saved me £100's compared to TC and cash. Only cash I use now is tolls. everything else is charged.
I was informed last time this subject came up Thomas Cook also do a great cc for abroad with no fees and you get 1% back to spend with them on future holidays.

I can't understand any reason to take all cash, given the virtual cash aspect of TC in Orlando, even if a few more places insist on ID.
The CC people mentioned are a real alternative but some people find it hard to keep track of spending. TC can make it as easy as cash in this respect.

Personal choice as to CC or TC with a some cash, but would not recommend cash only for the simple reasons of losing it.

We had TC's, Amex TC card, and cash - found having a combination worked well for us. Neither of us has a credit card but we both had our debit cards with us as well so could access more cash if needed.

The TC's and Amex card were both in OH's name so it was good for me to be able to carry some cash. We also made sure we took some low value notes for tipping etc.

We always take all cash and put it in our Suntrust account when we arrive, anything we have left over is there for our next trip. Although that doesn't happen very often! :rotfl:

I am right in thinking you used your flexaccount card in the states in the ATM?

I have a Nationwide account, and have applied for a cc, but not sure it will turn up in time for our trip, but if I get the same rate with my flexaccount, then that will be just as easy.
