With February's area including the scrap space, I thought we could use a thread about how we store our various stuff. Talk about what we have tried, and what we want to find a better way to store.

What works for me:

Punches: I have a Crop in Style punch pal, which hangs over the door. It holds my punches, obviously, but I also used some of the pockets to hold my bags of beads.

Paper Scraps: I have my paper scraps in page protectors in binders. The page protectors I bought from OfficeMax, and the binders I had just hanging around. I have one for Bazzill, one for patterned paper, one for colors (ROY-G-BIV) and one for browns, gray scale, vellum. I need to put the Bazzill one in color order, and I want to redo the PP one so that all the scraps from "stacks" are together. I have gotten in the habit of pulling from the binder instead of a new sheet.

Eyelets, Brads: I have them in spice jars and in a spice rack.

What kind of works:

Sizzix: I have my dies in a rolling case. Which works for me as long as I don't need to go to a crop.

Ribbon: For Christmas I got a giant jar of pistachios. It still has pistachios in it, but once they are gone, I plan on putting my ribbons in it. Right now they are in a crate, making a mess.

Cardstock: They are currently standing vertically in a wire mesh basket. It's fine, only the basket is too long, and it's full so it makes moving it around a problem, so I am thinking about getting three shorter ones.

What doesn't work:

Those Sandylion sticker sheets and jolees. Up until now, I've had them in two drawers in a 7 drawer chest. However, it's a pain to sort through to find what I want, and the chest is in the closet and not near my scrap space. So I am looking for suggestions here.

Swap stuff: The answer is to USE THEM! But since I haven't gotten that far. First I had them in drawers in those 12 x 12 sterilite drawers. But it got to full. Then I took everything out of the baggies, so they would take up less space. But then I couldn't find anything. After the great shred of January, I ended up with 3 expandable files normally for bills, and I sorted them into there, but they are so big now that I worry that things are getting bent and crushed. And the Good/Evil swap never even made it in them, because I ran out of room.

There is a new storage product just released at CHA called a Clip It Up. It's a standing circular spinning thing with lots of clips on it that you use to organzie stickers and other embellishments that come on sheets. It looks really neat but the price is kind of high - $60 just for the base unit (there's another smaller tier that you can attach to the top). However, if AC Moore or Michaels decides to carry it I would buy it with a 40% off coupon.

I also love my AMM Stack'em rack storage tower for my brads, eyelets and other little embellies.

I got one of those photo boxes with the index cards and I put my stickers and some other embellishments in there by categories... ie letters, Disney, baby, etc. I use the box sideways to assist with longer items. Any of those accordian folder things would work well for this too. I have a small version of that for Disney souvenirs, which really aren't sorted in there, just stuffed in, but they aren't on the floor, which is always a plus. :lmao:

I don't have many supplies, no machines or stamps or anything, but I have my paper sorted by color in another expandable box, specificially for 12x12 scrapbook papers. And yet another one for pictures. I have my small amount of tools in school pencil boxes.

This is why I went digital.... couldn't bare to spend the big bucks on supplies, so my pages always lacked. Well, they still lack, but they are better then they were! :rotfl:

I have a pegboard above my scrapping desk which is really a computer desk. Has a raised area where monitor should be. Albums I'm currently doing pages for are sitting up there. I put all the hanging things on that, as well as refills for my Hermafix, Xyron, etc. Also, scissors, ribbons and such.

Sizzix were in the storage towers, but I just sold all my Sizzix and QuicKutz on ebay and bought a Cricut, instead. Eyelets, brads, etc. are stored in a really awesome little tool holder I found at Lowe's.

Since I don't really have a dedicated space, my stuff is all over the house.

What works for me:

Punches:
I have the top part from a California Closest's section from Target. It has shelves and a drawer. The drawer houses my punches and my silent setter. It's cleaner now! LOL

Paper Scraps:
All of my papers are in Cropper Hoppers. I have 7, 5 for the colors, 1 for Disney, and 1 for Basic Grey and Daisy D's paper. Each color is divided by textured cardstock, plain cardstock, patterned card stock and scraps. My scraps are stored in Deco File folders from Creative Memories. The larger pocket holds larger scraps and the smaller on holds smaller pieces. These work wonders! Thanks Lisa!!!!

Eyelets, Brads:
Currently housed in a hardware containers from Target. Each drawer is labeled in alphabetical order. The drawers can be divided in half so I can get several items in each drawer.

Pictures:
All of my pictures are in the CM power sorter box. Each child has a section, myself, DH, wedding, trips, etc...
albums
all of my albums are in an enclosed in a cabinet on the side of the fireplace. It's a nice built in unit. I also store my FIL and MIL's memorabilia in there.

What kind of works:

Sizzix:
My sizzix and die cuts are in the Calif. Closet (see above pic). It works for now but I have to keep shuffling thing around to get to the alphabets.
Ribbon:
In bead containers, but I'm out growing them. I also have some in a box. I'm still trying to figure out a way to store them. I have seen several was to store fibers but none seem to really work for me.

stickers, swap items, rub-ons, etc..
Currently in binders, they hold items fairly well but the sleeves are slippery so I can't put a lot of things in, plus the sleeves start to sag a bit. The pro of this is I can see everything I have. They are divided up by park, character, holiday, seasons, etc..

misc
Under the Calif Closet I have a bookcase that houses photo boxes with all kinds of stuff. Tools, papers, chipboard, primas etc. Not the best solution but the Calif Closet fits on top.

What doesn't work:
I have to scrap on the table in the living room. I have a box and a bin in the front hall for the overflow that doesn't have a home wight now. I also put the tools and papers that I use frequently in the box. It gets a little messy at times.
Overall the whole thing doesn't work, I really need my own space. But it is what it is. The bright side is I walk a lot in the house to get what I need. LOL

I'm going to try Buffys plan for the swap items. We had a new staples open up and they sent out coupons for $25 off aa $25 purchase. I managed to get alot of thepage protectors in the different types with that one. Now on to sort everything out.

hmm guess I could answer the questions. LOL
What works for me:

Punches: I have some of the plastic containers from Target that have the multiple leves that snap together. I keep the punches in there and can just pull it out of the cabinet when I need them.

Paper Scraps: For my SU paper I have the scraps with the matching color in the file cabinet. For pattern paper I have a 12x12 folder that I put it in.

Eyelets, Brads: I have a box similiar to what Buffy has her ribbon in. My SU ones are still in the container they come in with the stackable tower.

What kind of works:

Sizzix: I have two of the towers. One that houses the red dies and another for the yellow and green. I have two alphabets that are on a shelf with the machine

Ribbon: If its on a spool I have the SU ribbon holder to pull from. Others that I have are like Buffy's above.

Cardstock: The 8 1/2 x 11 is in a file cabinet by color. The 12x12 is currently awaiting sorting to go in another file cabinet. LOL when I got my desk built I got a cabinet for 12x12 but I haven't managed to sort it out yet.

What doesn't work:

I have some of the decorative boxes that come in photo box size and 12x12. I have stuff in them like stickers and misc papers but I have to dig to get to anything. It looks really nice on my shelf but its hard to use.

Swap stuff: answered above LOL

Jenny,
The page protectors work ok, the 4x6 size I usually have to put a paper clip on the top piece. They would be better if they weren't so slippery. I might try taking a piece of sandpaper and rubbing the inside of each pocket.
The small ones are for baseball cards. You can only put 1 thing in each pocket unless they are deco squares. Those hold 1 set in each. The large pockets, I bought the ones that have flap at the top to hold everything in.

Like I said right now it works, but in the future I would like to fide some other solution, I just haven't figured out what yet. LOL

I don't have any pics yet, but I can say what works for me:

I got a Scrap Rack at CKC last summer. Took the class while there, and it made so much sense to me. Now my Disney section is HUGE!! As is the summer/cruise section...but everything fit.

I like being able to see everything. I don't like any storage that files things out of sight. So I like my paper in paper storage cubes...open. I like my scraps in Sterilite drawers near my Cricut. I just need a set that will hold 12x12 scraps...

Punches are in Sterilite drawers, so are stamps. Embossing stuff is in a basket. My sizzix is the only thing that is away in a cabinet, and that's because of the Cricut, which I use more, and is out. My sizzix dies are in CD boxes that I got at IKEA.

My DH got me some cast offs from the loading dock at work...several file cabinets, which I painted topiaries on, These are around the room, and full of some crazy stuff that I really thought I needed. On top are hat boxes in various sizes that hold adhesive storage, prima flowers, shaker box fillers, and ribbons. I would love to showcase the ribbons and flowers, but not sure how to yet.

He also scored 2 wheeling shelf carts from the OR... 1 holds scrapbooking stuff, the other holds jewelry supplies.

My paints right now are everywhere, and I need a better system for storing those...any ideas?

Goals for the future: Rearrange the room for a better flow. Add a desk. Decorate in a Shabby Chic style.

I figure it has to be better then what I have. I'm going from my memory but I think I got some of the baseball size, some 4x6 (I think there are two types of this one) and some of the large pages with and without the flaps. Oh yeah I also got some that are for pictures that slide in the side. I thought I'd try those out. If I can at least get them sorted then I can find the best way to store them.

Sorting all that stuff was the hardest part. I did the parks first. The only one divided into lands is MK. Then I have one for resorts and restaurants. I have a separate binder for characters, divided up by movie. One for holidays and seasons, one for letters and numbers, and the last one is for rub ons which is sub divided by season, letters, etc...
I just have so much stuff, so I've been shopping my stash. But the good thing about putting it away is I can finally see what I have. I currently own 5 of the Snow White embellishments from EK Success because I couldn't find 3 that I had for the kids autograph books, so I bought more.

Yup, that's the best part of being organized...I hate running to the store because I "misplaced" an item... happens so often too...

Oh I know I have extras of so much stuff. I'm really bad for buying stuff for swaps and then I can't find it so I buy more and then of course once the swap goes out I find the original stash.

My DH will be so impressed if I can get it all sorted and in binders somehow. I also have the CM binder system that is only partially used so I may put other items in with the cm stuff.

No pictures, but I will try to describe my area.

I'm lucky enough to have a dedicated area in my large bedroom. We do have an empty finished room in the basement I could use and there is room in the home office, but I am happy where I am for now.

I have a large folding gateleg table for scrapping. The idea behind this table was that I could fold it up small and out of the way if I wanted to.... but I never do! So I am thinking of replacing the table with something a big larger.

On my table I keep two lamps (one being my OTT light), my Pampered Chef Tool Turnabout with all of my markers, pencils, pens, scissors, blades, rulers, etc. I also have two drawer organizers stacked that contain all of my really small punches, my eraser, adhesive remover, and adhesive runner. Plus a magazine box that has my "ideas" book and my BK Sketches books, as well as my sketches binder.

To the right of my table is a small bookcase with all of my scrapping magazines and my mascot.... the Build-a-Bear Scrapping Bear that DD bought me!

To the left of my table (touching the table) is one of those large plastic drawer units (4 drawers).... on top of it is all of my solid cardstock... upright in those Priority Mail boxes... arranged ROYGBIV, plus black, white, shades of grey and brown.

The four drawers are as follows.... top ... scraps... all scraps, in no particular order, not sorted... I'm just too lazy.

Next drawer down... all of my other circle, square, and tag punches, plus my eyelets and brads... all in those small divided boxes, one color/size per slot. Also my eyelet setting stuff (setter, hammer, small hole punch).

Next drawer down... assorted large embellishments... not really arranged in any great way... I usually have to remember what is there and go sorting through them... Guess I should find a better system for that drawer. Also my glitters and magic mesh.

Bottom drawer (because they are so heavy)... all of my Sizzix dies and Sizzlets alphabets, arranged vertically in plastic tubs so that I can see what they are by the title on the end, rather than having to sort through.

I also have this large sort of "cubby corner" in my room that holds the majority of my stuff (right next to where I scrap). It is the area over my stairwell, as we didn't want a cathedral stairwell. It is a perfect area for my stuff, but I am outgrowing it. I have a large bookcase. The top few shelves hold photo boxes. That is where I store most of my embellishements. The boxes are labeled "Winter/Christmas", "School/Sports", "Spring/Easter", "Summer/Vacation/Beach" "Fall/Halloween", "Birthday", "Adhesives", "Nephews". These boxes have all of the stickers, borders, etc, etc.

The bookshelf also holds a plastic tub for each child of baby/toddler/childhood memorabilia. I am finally caught up to 2002, so hopefully those boxes will be mostly empty soon!

The bottom shelf hold all of my extra (empty) albums I have bought on sale that I just couldn't live without!

There is also a 5 or 6 drawer tall dresser in that corner. It is a leftover from another room where it was no longer needed. The drawers are all labeled.... top drawer "Disney" holds all of my smaller stickers and embellishments, large Mickey head punches etc.

Next drawer is rubber stamps and foam stamps.... third drawer is alphabet stamp sets and ink pads.

Next drawer is alphabets... die cuts and stickers.

Next drawer is more alphabets... mostly rub ons.

Next drawer is gardening themed things... but I should put those on a photo box on the shelf.

On top of this dresser I have TWO stacked 12 x 12 STerilite drawer sets. They contain my foam alphabet stickers, patterned papers, my CM cutting mat and oval cutting set.

I also have two 12 x 12 accordion folders containing assorted patterned papers, sorted by pattern (garden/floral, back to school, sports, baby girl, baby boy, etc).

And finally outside of the cubby corner, next to our tv cabinet (but still within the somewhat confined area of my scrapping mess) is another of the large 4 drawer plastic drawer units.... top two shelves... patterned paper and unopened packages of solid paper.

Third drawer.... all Disney 12 x 12 and 8 1/2 x 11 paper, plus large Disney stickers, borders, etc. sorted by character and/or park.

Bottom drawer.... solid 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock (I mostly only use it on my Dad's gardening book).

On top of this drawer unit sits another 12 x 12 Sterilite drawer unit containing patterned papers. Next to this sits my Sizzix machine.

Oops, I also forgot to mention that somewhere in this mess I have a small rolling kitchen cart. The drawer hold a bunch of miscellaneous stuff (including a large quantity of stamps I borrowed and haven't returned yet), and the top holds my Xyron and my box of photos I am working on, sorted by date and event.

Sorry to go on and on.... I guess a picture would help, but our regular computer is down right now and I am using an old back-up computer from the kids playroom! Sorry.... Anyhow, most of my "system" works well for me. It probably would save me time to sort my scraps, but I'm not ready to do that yet. What does work well for me is the photo boxes that are labeled by season, holiday or item. They seem to be large enough to hold all of my "stash" and they are long enough to hold almost all long stickers and borders.

I also love my large drawers and especially my 12 x 12 Sterilite drawers. I am considering dumping the large dresser and replacing it with a LARGE stack of the 12 x 12 STerilite drawers. It seems like it would be much more efficient use of space. I'm just concerned about the stack toppling over. I would have to find a way to connect them together.

If you have made it this far, THANKS!...........................P

I don't have a scraproom , I use the end of the dining table, as the light is quite good (in daytime) with the conservatory behind me.
1) Beside me there is a unit called a buffet (an antique) which has a big botttom shelf which is a complete mess wiht my CM paperwork on it. I balance the empty boxes from my trimmers etc. on that while I work.
2) My punches and trimmers are in a large CM tote (all in their boxes with their little plastic punch boxes), the templates for the cutting system, my cutting mat and some ideas sheets from the packs of paper.
3) I also have an album tote containing my demo album, my "naughty stash" (non-Cm paper and cardstock :guilty:) and unopened packs of paper, CM order forms and catalogues.
4) I also have a CM paper storing thing (the old one that doesn't take 12 x 12 but it was free as part of the success programme) and a CM sticker folder - PACKED. The two totes sit on the floor, the accordion folders on a little footstool (so I don't have to reach too far down).
5) Behind me on an old sewing box I have my large powersort box, my small powersort box (with the next few pages of photos in) and current albums.

I'm thinking of taking the punches out of their boxes - it takes a long time to get ready for a workshop! - but I'm worried about damaging them. Any ideas?

currently own 5 of the Snow White embellishments from EK Success because I couldn't find 3 that I had for the kids autograph books, so I bought more

The jolee style ones? I did some sorting of my stuff last night and found out I had 3 of the Belle ones and 3 of the Sleeping Beauty ones, but no Snow White or Ariel.

I also found out I had more of the Sandylion princess sticker sheets than I thought. I bought them in the packaging once. Then Recollections had them on a roll, and when they were 25% I bought a set, when they were 50% I bought a set, and when they were 75% off I bought 5 of them. I need a small group princess swap. :)

I have a very understanding DH! He gave me his old desk and helped me set up a scrapping area in the game room. I have a pull-out drawer where I keep my lightbox so that it stays hidden when I don't need it. (It is for keyboards.) My paper trimmers go next to it. The other half of the drawer is where I keep my adhesives and other small items.

After about a year, I got frustrated with my inability to find anything (what wasn't on my desk was in boxes and my Cropper Hopper) and used the 40 & 50% coupons at JoAnn's to get the Store in Style Furniture.

IT WORKS!!!!!
I have two file-type sections, one of five drawers, the other of six. I bought the drawer dividers where I keep the smaller of my punches, paints and some stamps. Paper I am not planning to use in the immediate future is laid in a couple of the drawers without the dividers (which I had to get at Recollections).

I have the larger dividers for paper I need a lot, divided by color groups. The bottom cube holds the scrapbooks I am presently working on.

I have become a much better scrapbooker, more organized.

WHAT ISN"T WORKING

Binders for my QK. They are convenient for storage, but they are under my desk and it is a pain to reach under my desk everytime I need to cut something.

I have my pens and markers in a plastic basket that is way too small and everytime I try to get one, ten spill out.

You guys have sooo much more stuff then me. I'm so jealous. ;) I don't have any punches or any of those fancy cutter things. What I do have, and where I store it is;

All of my 12X12 sheets are in the box the 12X12 album came in, but that is now full, and the lid doesn't completely fit on it.

Everything else, the paper cutter, pictures, crop paper, all of my embellishments, (which aren't that many,) are in a cradboard box.

I really want more stuff though, and a better way to store it.

I scrap in my living room and although it is just me, I like to keep my space neat.

What works for me:

I recently bought a scrapbooking cabinet by Ewins http://www.ewins.com/item/6/EWINS+1..._Hobby_Cart_-_9_Compartments_-_Office_Storage that I stained finished and seems to be working great so far. I have six drawers that house adhesives, cutting tools, punches, the Cropper Hopper embellishment holder, etc. The bottom two cabinets hold the Cropper Hopper vertical paper holders which have my solid cardstock and a mesh 14x14 cube in which I keep paper envelopes and page kit envelopes by Cropper Hopper. I have all the stickers and paper for a theme in these envelopes so that when I need to go crop (I do a lot of cropping out of the house) I just grab whatever envelope I need. I have them divided into categories like Holidays (Christmas and Halloween get their own envelope), Camping & Outdoors, Kids, School, etc. All other stickers that don't have a home are in my Creative Memories sticker binder.

I love, love, love my Cropper Hopper Embellishment holder - I bought all the mini boxes which fit perfectly and have my brads and eyelets sorted by color, the rest of the box holds ribbons and fibers rolled into the mini boxes. I got this idea from Two Peas and am love it!

The jolee style ones? I did some sorting of my stuff last night and found out I had 3 of the Belle ones and 3 of the Sleeping Beauty ones, but no Snow White or Ariel.

The full body ones where Snow is twirling her skirt. I'm not really into Ariel so I don't have a lot of her stuff, but Belle is our favorite so we have tons of her stuff too. My mom is big into Snow White so I'm hoping to use some of my stash if I ever get around to doing her album from our trip in August.

I promise to update tomorrow what I utilize..and I posted a thread about paper holders being made out of priority mail boxes and they are decorated on the community board.. I'll post that link tomorrow too..

Sorry to be MIA today.. DH worked from home and now homework has taken over w/ 3 kids.. and ball practices... and life... but I did get some of the scraproom cleaned today and I moved things on the desks so it looks like they have been cleaned..
