Does anyone want to share tips on how to stay cool in the summer at WDW? I am going in September and am hoping that it will be a little cooler than summer time, but would appreciate any tips anyone has. Thanks in advance

I could think of a few basic ones:
1. Go to indoor attractions with shorter wait times; Mickey's Philharmagic, etc.
2. Get to the park early, leave by Noon, and head back to the parks in the evening. Avoid the heat in the middle of the day.
3. Swim in the afternoon.
4. Drink water, drink some more water, and drink some more water.
5. Stay concierge and relax in the lounge. If you can swing it; of course. :)
6. Go to Club Cool at EPCOT. Just the name can cool you down.
7. Try a cool refreshing Dole Whip Float. It will bring your core body temperature down a few degrees.
8. Take frequent sit-down breaks in the air conditioned restaurants.

Hope this helps.

I bring lots of bottles of water, get into splash mountain if it gets really hot:rotfl: , I bring with me a little fan (they used to sell it at Disney like in 2001 but I think they are stilll available), wear sunglasses or a hat by 12pm. If I am on Disney property I usually return to the resort pool after lunch and then hit to the parks by the late afternoon.
But you can't really escape from Florida hot sun but I think that by september there isn't that much hot. Have a magical trip! enjoy

Go in December.

Sorry, can't stand that level of heat. Have fun!

Buy a mister fan somewhere, and fill the mister part with ice cubes and water. It lasts for a bit :)
I found advice on the tip board and **had** to have one - it is called a Misty Mate. I ended up getting mine from our local Walmart but there are some out on ebay (don't buy them from the website and pay full price because you are really paying way too much) - we used them in the parks last Sept and really fell in love with them. We filled them up with cold water and they really made a difference. Of course, going in December fixes things too ;)

motorcycle, leather jacket, and smoke marlboro cigs?

... It worked for James dean

I was going to say January or February:thumbsup2

We did 12 days in early September once. It was miserable! Fingers crossed you get cooler weather, OP!

I did July once! WOW it was hot! Do the shop dive everytime you get hot. Go into the lovely AC.

If you are really hot, go into the living seas. I actually started to shiver! :rotfl:

Have a fab trip!

We go early then head back to the resort by noon then head back out around 5pm. I also love the little Misty mates, I'm bringing them in a ziploc bag full of ice. We have the same kind of weather here and the main thing is not to be outside in the afternoon.

We visited in August and were successful with many of ADPs tips. I would add, make good use of the shops, they are quite cool. The swim really helped bring down the core body temp and refreshed us for the rest of the day ahead, as well.

We did not use a misting fan...I just cannot imagine carrying one more thing around.

Dittos to all of the above::yes::
1.Go early:thumbsup2 I never manage this step. In my case skip to #3
2.relax you're on vacation.Take a nooner or a "Bob nap" back at the hotel, swim.
3.late lunch and then to the parks. Stay late. MK till 2:00am in May.

Carrying anything other than minimal camera gear makes me crazy hot. Tried Mister fans they would leak and sweat all over everything. Water bottles turn into hot water bottles.
:cloud9:I need a cute sherpa for my June trip. Loaded up with all my summer cooling equiptment.

Ok. back to reality.

On summer trips (August '07, July '06) I use a gel neck wrap around my neck. Dorky but cool. Soak it in water in the frig overnight wrap around your neck and go. You'll stay cool for hours. They come in materials that can be color coordinating . I've even seen them in camo. Completes the outfit :rotfl2:

You can ask at any full service kiosk in any park for a cup or more of ice water. Drink, drink drink. They're free and refreshing.

All of these are great suggestions.

I would add:

1. Before going to WDW, go to the store and buy a handful of washcloths.
2. Take some ziplocks with you on your trip.
3. Wet down the washcloths and put them in the fridge/freezer overnight once you are at WDW. If no fridge, then just wet them down before you go to the parks with some cold water.
4. When going to the parks, bring as little to carry as possible.
5. Place all washcloths in the ziplocks to keep them wet and cool and use them during the day as a nice refresher.
6. If it is insane Georgia, Asphault, Africa, Animal Kingdom hot like it was when we were in the AK in August (130 degree Heat Index) then use them on the back of your neck. This saved us!

Have a great trip!

Go early hit the rides with a/c. Get out of the park by 11:30 am come back after 8:00 pm.

I bought one back in 2001,and I love it.
It is like the misting system at restaurants but only hand held.

We are going to be there the first week of Sep and I am really getting nervous. I have put sooooo much time and love and thought into planning this (first) trip for my kids and mom and dad.. actually ten of us all together. I am starting to feel this sense of impending doom over the weather. I am trying to not make myself crazy, but it's really starting to get to me. I listened to Pete say the other day he couldn't even go outside. oh my goodness... I don't want to be sick. And we are going to be there 9 days. Is it going to ruin the trip??? I am really not crazy, but I will just be so crushed if we have looked forward to this for over a year and a half.. Saving... planning..... just to go and feel sick. Needless to say I tried to stear them away from going in September, but my brother and sister in law swear this is a good time to go. I guess we will see!
