We have a late afternoon flight home and are looking for ideas of how to spend our last day. One thought we had was to relax at the resort pool, but we are concerned about not being able to freshen up before we fly out. I realize that the resorts have restrooms and a shower area, but we are still hesitant about this plan. If you've done this we would appreciate hearing your impressions.

Basically we are looking for how do you spend your last day?

We have a long flight home (9 hours) which always leaves late in the day (7pm generally). we always spend that last day in the park soaking up as much of the magic as we can. We've spent that last day in Epcot twice, but what works best for us is the Magic Kingdom. Last trip in June our flight was late enough that we managed to get one last viewing of Festival of Fantasy in before we had to get going.

We are AP holders though, so that certainly makes things easier for us. I have read about people using the showers at their hotels gym after a pool day before their flight for years; that's just not us though. We like to spend as much time in the parks as humanly possible!!

I, too, opt for a late flight so have just over half a day on the last day.

I usually stay at the YC and normally go to EPCOT due to it's being so close. Normally am solo but this year traveling with DB, SIL, DNiece and her DH and their 2 darling DDs for my "Diamond Birthday". Yup, I'm the same vintage as DL. The last day was the only day we could get A & E FP+ and my 4 yo DGNiece wants to see them so much so it will be the MK for us. Also Peter Pan is reopening (after refurb?) and it is my fav. So I am ditching Le Cellier resssie after not having been able to get one previous 4 trips in favor of MK and family choices. It may be my birthday but I want DGN to be able to do as much of she wants as possible.

Am usually a December visitor but November this year. Am not heat tolerant for medical reasons so if it is hot enough to make one sweat, I likely would have bailed back to resort so am usually not too grungy.

The toughest part is the very late flight and being so tired at work the next day.

We had a late evening flight (8pm departure)... we went to Epcot (slightly after rope drop, once we'd dropped our luggage with bell services) and just stuck to Future World. FP+ for Soarin', Spaceship Earth and the Character Spot. Rode TT three times on single rider, Mission Space (Green), Living with the Land, check rout some shops, used all our FP+ too- last one was the character spot around midday, so we said goodbye to Mickey and then left the park. QS lunch back at the resort, and then we were ready in plenty of time for the DME (I think our pick up was around 3.30pm as we're international guests).

It was a perfect final morning: very chilled and no stress. We'd planned MK, but swapped the morning of as we'd had a great day at MK the following day and had said goodbye nicely. Epcot was nearest to our resort (SSR) and we hadn't had much time there (only one day). We enjoyed it so much it's likely to be the same plan this time round.

Always spend it at the MK soaking in the atmosphere and getting last minute goodies to bring home and walking around saying good-bye for now to all the things we love. Sigh. Then walk or monorail back to the CR or BLT and wait for the DME. If it's nice we sometimes do the MK early then relax by the pool for a bit and grab something to eat.

We usually have an early afternoon flight that has ME picking us up between, 11 and 12. We always have a special last day character breakfast at a resort to soak up that last bit of Disney magic. We will spend time exploring the resort we're eating at before going back to ours to wait for ME. I like having a more low key day before heading out.

We usually spend it at down town Disney, hit the shops and get our last minute shopping in, lunch and just relax.

Have only had 1 late departure, but will happily be repeating this trip. We spent the day at MK, actually not rushing to RD, as we wanted to eat and checkout, but made use of our FP and saved up rider swaps. We headed back to resort for a late lunch at the table service restaurant and then explored resort and shops until our 4:00 pick up. This year, our pick up won't be till 6:00 pm. I still want to do a sit down meal, but am debating if we do an early lunch and head back into MK or wait and eat at 4:00. What I loved about the park time on the last day is the. Relaxed feel for leaving. Usually all we do is pack up and catch the bus. We were so much happier to board after spending the day in MK!

I usually go to a waterpark on my last day. I bring my clothes to wear home and shower and change into them before I leave. I headed to Blizzard Beach last Friday only to find out while on the bus that it was closed for a special event. So I went back to my resort (I had been given a late 1 PM checkout) and went to the pool, showered and changed in my room and went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for a couple of hours. Looked at animals, checked out all the art scattered around the halls, had a late lunch there.

So maybe ask about late checkout if you want to go to the pool in the AM.

We drive (10 hours) and like to leave around noon/ 1pm for the drive. We used to do MK on that last day but DD often ended up crying while saying 'good-bye' to the princesses. Now we do DHS which works out perfectly - we go in for RD to ride TSM once or twice standby - then have a FP for it. Also FP (and ride standby DD and DH not me) - Star Tours and we all see via FP the Frozen Sing-along which we all love. Then we do a quick run to DTD to grab EoS to go (I drop DH off near the bus stop and he does the run and I circle around and pick him back up). We eat the EoS in the car and talk about the trip.

edited to add: we have APs

We drive. Usually we leave late afternoon and spend the morning at MK and only drive a couple of hours and stop for the night. This trip though we are spending our entire last day at the parks, we have dinner reservations at HS for the Minnie dinner at 5 and then Fantasmic that night so we decided just to stay local. I went online and found an inexpensive hotel near downtown Disney and we will check in there and leave the next morning. It only added $60 on to our trip so it's worth it.

Since we're usually staying at BWV, if we're flying we schedule early FP+ in DHS and 11:00 lunch at Sci-Fi, then return to BW for DME. If we're driving (yay for being retired and having the time), we schedule a resort breakfast (Boma last time, La Trattoria al Forno on trip coming up) and then hit the road.

We like to do a character meal at a resort. Ends on a happy note and gives us something to look forward to the night before. Then some last minute shopping :)

We usually want to maximize our times in the parks, especially on a week-long trip where it's only $10 to add another day onto the park tickets. We usually plan a late (somewhere between 5-8pm) flight home. On previous trips we would sometimes leave the last day wide open, go to whichever park we wanted to go back to the most. Other times we attempted to visit all 4 parks in one day. But with FP+ it's tougher to be spontaneous like that. On our last trip, halfway through the week we decided we wanted to spend some more time at Epcot, didn't have a problem getting FP 3 days in advance for our departure day.

I wouldn't want to waste a ticket if I only had a few hours. If a full half day I'd do DHS the last day as that is a half day park for us (which is what we usually do). Otherwise I'd do a nice breakfast at a resort and then head to DTD for last minute souvenir shopping

We did DTD on our last day on our previous trips We had late afternoon flights and didn't want to spend the money for only a half day. The boat ride from PO is relaxing and we enjoyed shopping since we usually don't spend much time in the park gift shops. This year we are spending our last day in US and taking an evening flight home.

We're going to to enjoy the resort (staying at AKL) and then head over for lunch and some shopping at DTD. Trying to do a little relaxing after a busy several days in the park.

I usually hit a park for the last day and plan my flights to be late so I can have until 2pm in the park of choice. Like AK if leaving on a Sat-usually the best day for it...my next trip is longer than normal and I am trying some new things, so am thinking of trying to get a breakfast at CP and doing a few things in MK before leaving...

We have always went back to MK on our last day. We use our last snack credits and pick up some souvenirs (although this year I'm restricting my souvenir buying). We would grab a bite to eat and ride a few rides then hit the road for half of our 12 hour drive. This year we plan on going to Epcot and spending all day and taking in the F&W festival. Since we are hitting Universal the next day, we don't have to worry about driving 6 hours on our last day.
