How do you sort sleeping arrangements in Orlando with a teenage son & daughter

Nearly all the rooms on I Drive seem to have 2 double/king beds. Naturally I wouldn't expect my teenage daughter & son to share a bed, so the only alternative is for DD & I to share, and for DS to share with DH. There is no way my DH would ever go for this, and I just wonder how do people get around this problem - am I just looking at the wrong places?

thats what my brother (18) and me (almost 20) had to deal with...usually joe would sleep on the floor and i would get the bed...
when we were younger, i would share with mom and then joe and dad would share..
now that we are older, when we go on vacatoins, we both usually have a friend with us...so my friend and i get our own room, joe and his friend get own room, and mom and dad get own room

We do just what you suggested. When the kids were younger, they shared a bed. But now that DS is 19 and DD 13, I share with her and DS shares with DH. Works for me!

My sister and I always shared a bed at a hotel. But the rule was one was below the sheet the other was above the sheet.

We have two teenage sons, who would rather not sleep together  We brought a twin aerobed with us and it worked great. We inflated it at bedtime (they inflate and deflate in about a minute) and then rolled it up in the morning.

We stayed at CSR and had plenty of room for the bed. So other than getting two rooms, that would be my suggestion. I think we paid about $75 for the bed, and have used it several times at home, it comes in handy.

When we stay in motels with our son and daughter we usually separate the box spring and the mattress. If there is space permitting and usually there is , we put the mattress on the floor and one sleeps on the mattress, the other on the box spring and they switch the next night.

DS 16 and DD 15 shared a bed until a few years ago. Then we bought a twin aero bed. Now they fight over who gets the aero bed! :p

My youngest stepson is 2 yrs older than my DD....our travels as a family of 4 have ranged from when they were 6 and 8 though 16 and 18.... After the first couple of trips the 2 doubles or two queens just wasn't workable for any of us.

Off site we've done 1 BR suites with 2 doubles and a sofa bed and 2 BR suites with plenty for room for more people ;)
On site we've done the rooms with bunkbeds and a queen at WL, and rollaways or suite type arrangements at the Swan/Dolphin.

Also....I think standard rooms at some of the on-site hotels(like the Contemporary and Poly) have 2 doubles and a daybed.

I think the aerobed is a great idea, but if you look for deals I'll bet you can find suite-type accomodations with three beds at a good rate, especially off site.

Have you considered one of the Disney resorts? I believe the Wilderness Lodge and the Animal Kingdom have a queen and a set of bunk beds.............this would solve the problem if it is within your budget. Otherwise I would ask if the hotel you are considering has a rollaway.
Also check Homewood Suites, they are off site and I believe they maybe able to accomadate your situation.. I think they are fairly reasonable.

My DD and I share a bed
&
DS and my husband share a bed.

However, we just bought a queen sized Aero-Bed and will just take it with us (we can put it in a duffle bag and check it as luggage on the plane).

There are tons of suites in the orlando area! Keep looking.

Also, ALOT of hotels will bring a roll away to the room, just have to ask. Some do charge a fee, like 10 bucks a night or so.

Go for a room with two beds and a sofa that folds out into a bed. Homewood Suites is a good one to try.

Me (35) my brother (33) my friend and my Mom are all going to WDW in Oct. staying at the Pop Century resort. My brother REALLY wants his own room, I can understand why..But, when we inquired about getting a second room for him it was like $800-$900+ just for the room only because he is paying based on double occupancy. We booked a long time ago and were able to take advatage of the 5 plus 2 nights (pay for 5 stay for 7). When my brother decided to come at the last minute he wasnt able to get the same deal cause it had expired..Needless to say, he thinks hes going to go down there and if they have availability he going to pay for a room for himself...Unless I can find a last minute special for him, I know sometimes they advertise on Dreams web site? I do have one of those air beds, I just didnt want to lug it along and check it on the airplane..We'll see...

Any suggestions, Im all ears..

Thanks

micknpluto Have you checked out MouseSavers lately? This link will take you directly to the code for October rates. Good luck!

When my brother and I were kids, our parents always took one bed, and we'd draw straws...whoever lost got the cot/floor/couch, the other got the extra bed.

We always take our aerobed with us; it fits in one of our suitcases fine and dandy!
