How do you say the word "via"

When you say "via" does it sound like you are using an "i" or an "e. Does that make sense?

But have used v-ee-uh.

I use it interchangably with no rhyme nor reason asI hear it both ways. But I use the "eye"'pronunciation more.

Both. I might take Vee-uh Rail. (Via Rail is a train company and always pronounced Vee-uh.) Or I might say, "I'm sending this v-eye-uh air mail."

Interesting.....my cube neighbor always says it with an "i" and she started making fun of me because I always say it with an "e". She went on and on about how I was saying it wrong and how it must just be people from Philly that say it that way and how it is not surprising because we don't know how to talk properly.

I am not going to mention the fact that I live in Boston and she is from here and has a very thick Boston accent......

I do know someone who doesn't pronounce it all and instead spells it out. Does the same with 'per'...
