We will be going for the first time with our two dk's 3 and 5 in May. Just curious how others do the big rides such as Space Mountain, Rockin Roller coaster, Tower of Terror, Test Track, Mission Space ect... I think our 5 year old will be tall enough to ride some of these rides but not sure he will want to. Not to mention it does not seem like very much fun for other person just waiting for the other two. I know we could do some other rides but I am sure we will be doing rides that the others will still want to do. I guess dh and I can take turns doing these rides alone but again does not sound fun. I guess I have resigned myself that this will be more a trip for the dk's. Which I am fine with. Just wondering how other family's with small dk's do it? Next time we will take grandparents with us!!

You can use the rider-switch policy. Ive never used it, so I'm not completely sure how it works, but i think that one parent waits with the child(ren) and the other rides. then you switch. if I'm completely messed up with this, somebody please tell me.
However, i think that bring the grandparents next time is a smart idea! ;) :teeth: :) :p

Edit: oops. i didn't see the part where you said you dont want to wait with the other child. oopsies. oh well, maybe the rider-switch option will help some other reader of this post! Happy DISing everyone! ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

We just used Baby Swap in January. It was OK for us because there were four adults, one riding child, and one non riding child. My six year old thought it was great because she would ride with DH and myself, and with Baby Swap, you can return with three people. So, DD usually got to ride with my parents also. I'm glad we had my parents along because it would not have been fun waiting by myself. Splash Mountain, for example. DH and I walked right on the ride. No wait at all. However, the ride is a 15 minute ride. So, my parents had to stand around and wait for that amount of time. The wait for Tower of Terror and RNR were long too. A lot of the rides have so much to go through before you can actually ride that it does take up a lot of time.

On our second trip, DH rode a couple of rides, and DD just waited for him or did something else. But, we did just skip a lot of rides too because it took up too much time to wait. And, it's not fun to stand around and wait for someone to get off of a ride.

I don't know how old your kids are, but an option is to send them for a few hours to one of the kids clubs. Then you and DH can make a mad dash to ride some of the "thrill" rides. Or even pick one park and do those ones. Like MGM-- ToT and RNRRC or MK-- Space MTn. and Splash Mtn- along w/ Big Thunder. Just an option when you are going w/ nonriding kids and no other adults.

Just remember that your kids must be at least 4 yrs old to go to the Kids' Clubs. You could get a Disney sitter for the littler ones.

When my son (now 9) was tall enough and my dd was not, my husband and I split up. First I took dd to fantasy land while DH took DS and went on the taller people rides. Then we switched. Of course we were there in off season. No reason a Dk3 should have to wait in a bunch of lines and not be able to ride. Very boring.

Space Mountain gives you a child swap ticket that's good all day. So you and the 3 year old can ride the teacups while DH and the 5 year old ride Space Mountain. Then they can meet you in Fantasyland and you and your five year old can ride Space Mountain later.
